run/walk warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Mike did the nicest thing: he was making a new map and he knew I was going to the Boulder Dash next weekend without much O practice. So he set a course for me in a new park and set out tapes (at even numbered controls) and made it feel like a competition. I had a start time, and I did my usual warm up. I even carried my estick. It definitely felt like a real race to me.

It was so much fun to run in a new park. I did OK, but had a bad route choice leaving one control, and got confused by an unmapped trail (the map is a work in progress). I wish I had recovered better from the unmapped trail (there were several obvious warning signs).

I got tired abou 2/3 way though and found myself pausing at each control to take a break. I couldn't keep up the same flow of running and reading the map. Good thing to remember next weekend.

weights 30:00 [2]

My trainer had to cancel, so I worked out at home. Not as hard, not as heavy weights (I need to buy something larger than 10 lbs) but I still got the job done for the week.

Sandy joined me for my first 2-hour session at Clinton (for this year). It was great to have her company, made the time speed by. We even missed the 1 hour turn around point (turned around at 64 minutes) and actually ran past 2 hours, which I never do! Quads are super tired now.
