Mike went to west campus this morning and skied around and made some more trails. Then he came home and drew a ski O course (And posted it on OKs Facebook page). We went out after the KU game to try it. My first ever ski-o! Ironically, Gene had the exact same idea, and he also created a course (I will have to try it tomorrow).

Before we went, I wasn't sure if I would log this as skiing or orienteering, because I know the area so well. It was definitely orienteering! It was almost a memory O, because the only way I could carry the map was in my hands. Which meant I had to stop, take a long look at where I wanted to go, then put the map away and ski on. It was hard, in a good, fun way. The only problem was that my hand tended to cramp up if I clenched the map too tightly.

Oh, and the fact that I DQ'd. Never saw control 6 on the map, and went right from 5 to 7. Didn't realize my mistake until I downloaded. Can I blame it on the fact that this was also night o ? :)

Mike and I went skiing on west campus tonight. I should have brought the map, so I could try ski-O for the first time!
Nice photo taken by Mike.

As I was doing squats with a 25 pound weight tonight, I thought to myself: this is why I go to a trainer. I never would have moved up to 25 lbs on my own. I would probably have plateaued at 10 lbs or so. I'm glad the trainer gradually pushes me further and further each week.

Worked at home today, because it's impossible to get out of neighborhood with this much snow, until it has been plowed. And we're a very low priority street for plowing.

Thought about skiing at lunch time, but it was very windy. So I waited.
One thing I love about working at home: turn off the computer at 5, be on the skis by 5:05.

Beautiful fresh snow, but lots of drifts. My first circuit could hardly be called skiing; it was more like walking, since I had to break through so much snow. Still, loads of fun. I love cross country skiing.

A great day. First, my company announced yesterday that we would be closed today due to snow. That was a first. So I slept in.

Then, we had a scheduled visit for a dryer repair. Wasn't sure if the guy would show, as the snow was just starting. He arrived on time, fixed the dryer in 20 minutes, and stopped that annoying squeak we've been living with for months.

Then I had all day to read, watch TV and sew, as the snow continued to fall.

Finally, it was deep enough to ski! Weee! Right out the garage, down the drive and up the street to Holcom. Perfect snow and lots of fun (except when skiing directly into the wind).

The snow is still falling, so it should be deep enough to allow for a couple of days of skiing. Perfect warm up for our trip to Yellowstone in two weeks.

Mike and I went out to Rockhaven to check controls for our upcoming event. Mike hung tapes and I tested legs. 25 degrees and overcast but felt fine while moving through the woods.
