OK's annual New Year's event, at Woodridge. 25 degrees and plenty of wind; such perfect conditions for running a registration table. Sometimes I wish our O season was not wintertime :)
After registration with Sandy, I went out on the middle course ( still fighting off a slight cold). Mike and Mook were going to follow my live track. I tried not to think about it too much, but it did enter my mind from time to time.
Focus was decent, after my hands warmed up and I could carry my compass and dip stick normally. Slight mistake on 7 (also didn't see the trail route choice) and 8 (pulled to the wrong rock wall). I should have taken more time before the start to turn off my "meet organizer" brain and turned on my "competitior" brain. But overall, it was a decent day in the woods.
When I got back, I found out that the live tracking did not work (poor cell phone coverage?) Sorry Mook
We had a great turn out, with 27 starts. Ran out of maps, and Mike had to draw the middle course on blank maps, and then over some beginner maps. Mike's video must have worked to spread the word!
