Rode my bike to Southwest Middle School to use their track (thanks to eelgrassman for the tip). I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was as nice as the high school track, and seemed pretty new.
Ran into Mike on the way home, and I kept him company while he jogged (after leaving his flat bike at the arboretum). Poor Mike, having to run extra long in this heat.

Ran part of the Yellow Day 2 course from this spring's A meet. The grass was not mowed around the first few controls, so I just got in the vicinity. The trail controls were fun, because I didn't have the option of cutting through the woods, so I had to keep track of where I was and what would be the best (long) route to the next control. It was not fun to be running in 96 degree heat, so I stopped a bit early.
I saw a roller blader on the bike path. That's the second one I've seen in two weeks. Is it a 20 year cycle, like fashion? I figure roller blading went out of fashion in the early 90's. Time for a comback?

on the trails at Clinton. This was a "whine" run: I was whining (in my head) the whole time. It's too hot. My legs are tired. Why did I chose to run on the rocky trail today? How much time do I have left? I'm thirsty. It's too hot. Blah, blah, blah.
But the schedule called for a 90 minute trail run, so I got it done. And to pay me back for all that whining, I mis-judged the distance and had to run a few extra minutes to get back to the car :)
