Possum Trot 2 hour score event. Temp was 90 degrees at the start: ugh! Decided that if I was going to be out for two hours, I would have to walk the whole way. Looked at the map and saw higher points on the east side, so I went across the dam first. I have also learned that it is better to be trying to pick up points close to the finish as time elapses, rather than being far away and having to rush back.

Felt OK for the first 90 minutes. After that, I got hungry, and my hamstring and knees started to complain. They lasted longer than I expected!

I was not really into this event at the beginning, as evidenced by the fact that I went out without my punch card :( But once I was out there, I started to concentrate well and navigation was pretty good (granted, this was an easier, rogaine-level course).

Plan was to try to get point 22 just before I finished, but I punched 29 with only a few minutes to spare. So I ended up having to run into the finish to beat the clock.

Today (Sunday) every muscle in my body is stiff and sore. I can tell that I haven't had a long workout in awhile, and I think I probably got a bit dehydrated in the heat.

Decided to do a test run on the trails at Clinton tonight. Felt stiff and slow to start, but moved well (relatively) by the end. No pain in hamstring, knee, calf or heel! Yeah!

Beautiful evening, 70 degrees and breezy. The trail was full of dog walkers, joggers and bicyclists. And even one unicyclist! I praised him for riding on the rocky trails.
