Note

Great weekend by WCOC. Courses were excellent both days, lots of fun competition and the results were posted fast ;). Tons of thanks to the DeWitts for great food and company. Susie, I really appreciated the sandwichs. Hope I can return the favor sometime.

Glad to be heading home.

Um, do you think there is a problem with my Forerunner???? Gotta love today's track.
Edit: I noticed that my second split covered over 1000 Km! Pretty cool :)

WCOC long course at Huntington. I slept soundly, but woke up with a wicked cramp in my left calf. This was something new. Decided I must be dehydrated, so I made sure to really hydrate before the meet.

I was not ready, mentally, to go out today, so I had to work extra hard at concentrating. My goal was no big mistakes. I managed pretty well.

I was distracted around 4 by the fact that I was really, really hydrated, and I had to go. Thank goodness for large boulders!

One parallel error near 7, but I figured it our pretty quickly.

Moved a bit quicker today. Overall, a decent day.

Day 1 at WCOC. Another night of restless sleep (too many thoughts in my head, including "what ideas were listed on AP for insomnia" and random alarms going off on my phone (sorry Valerie!). Which meant I knew I would have to be careful not to blow up today.

I had no major blow ups, but I felt like I was moving in a fog the whole time. I was just not sharp. Tried to be careful on the way to 1, but didn't really have a plan. Wandered a bit. Decided to bail out to a trail, and on the way, I managed to relocate. More time lost at 4, but I relocated quickly. Too much hesitation and wandering at 5; should have relocated sooner.

I walked the whole way today. I knew if I tried to push the pace, my brain would be fried. So, the best I can say about today was I managed to avoid disaster.

No idea what happened to my GPS track. It captured total time and each split, but GPS seems to have stopped around 5. HR isn't right either. Very weird...

walk 20:00 [1]

Had lots of plans for the day, but didn't end up doing much. Had problems falling asleep, and then slept too late. Decided to see Newport. Didn't count on all the traffic; took longer than I expected to get there. Only had a short time to walk around the cliff walk, see some houses and enjoy the beach.

Then off to the DeWitts house, for lovely dinner and great company (Susie, Rick, George, Lyn, Valerie and Sandy)

Note

Travel day. Took the train from NYC back to my parent's house, then drove across the lovely state of CT to arrive in West Greenwich RI, where I will spend the night. Which I need to do, to cross RI off my states list, in my rule book. This is the last of my "drive through states". I've driven through RI many times, but never stopped before. So I decided to stay now, since I had some free time, and I was in the neighborhood, so to speak.

Tomorrow, I'll spend some time exploring the state. Nice that it's so small.

This is #46 for me. The last four: HI, MS, ND, SD.

walk 2:00:00 [1]

Lots more walking today. I decided to log a couple of hours to cover the last three days; my feet are sore. May soak them in an ice bath tonight.

Fun buying fabric today. Gorgeous fibers in just the right shades of blue and brown. Then I went to the new costume exhibit at the Met, and snoop shopping at Barneys. For some reason, not one clerk asked if I needed help. Why, don't I look like the type of person who is here to buy $600 blouse or a $3000 dress ;)

On the other hand, the clerk in the Chanel boutique at Bergdorfs asked if I needed help. He must have been really bored!

Note

More walking around NYC. Lots more fabric shops, the FIT museum and bookstore and general enjoying the sights and sounds. Fun lookIng at the fabric swatches I've collected; tomorrow I buy.

On a different note: I looked at the results for my class on day 2 at West point. All 5 of us finished within 7 minutes. What a great competition. I hope we have more races like that.
