cycle 40:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (20:00 @2) + (10:00 @3)

It's going to be a brutally hot day today, so I got out on the bike first thing. Explored the path to the terminus on Iowa. On the way home, I made it all the way up the Kasold hill without stopping, although I did need my lowest gear possible. Don't know if "granny gear" applies if you're not a granny? How about "wimpy" or "woefully out of shape"?

cycle 28:00 intensity: (18:00 @1) + (8:00 @2) + (2:00 @3) 4.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Finally, some exercise. Pretty leisurely ride with Mike. Felt good to be moving again, and there was no stress (that I felt) on the foot.

Note

MRI results:
--My plantar fascia is 7 mm (instead of 4 mm) thick over a 1.2 cm section (which is fairly large apparently)
--still have slight tendinitis, probably in compensation for the PF
--stress fracture is completely healed, but there is still slight inflammation of the heel, again, due to the PF

I probably started running again too soon (although the doc and PT both thought I was ready)

Next steps:
cortisone shot
recreational walking or cycling only
follow up in 3 weeks

The shot didn't hurt going in, but the next few hours were brutal! Ibuprofen and ice helped slightly. But it got better over time, and now it is just a little tight.

Have cortisone shots worked for anyone? Hard to find reliable reports on the internet. I'm just so frustrated and want this to be completely better.

Note

More house stuff tonight. Mostly cleaning (used up a Magic Eraser, the best_product_ever) and some minor toilet repairs. Also, attached a blank switch plate to an outlet that was just bare wires. Why do people leave things like that? How hard is it to buy a 69 cent cover and put it on?

Still no training. I visit the podiatrist in the morning, to get the full results of the MRI. Will wait to see what she says before I start to train again. I figure a few weeks sitting around is better than doing too much, too soon.

Note
(injured)

No training tonight. Not much unpacking either. Instead we had a nice evening with Ideree, our first house guest.
