PT 1 [0]

My foot was hurting a lot today (more often, not more painful). It was not the heel or the PF, but along the inside of my ankle towards the arch. After careful reflection on my recent activities, I figured that it was probably my Achilles. I have been doing PT, but I've been skimping a bit on the balance and stretching work. I also stopped wearing my night sock. I think the achilles is weak from lack of use, and I must have tweaked it recently.

So I did some web surfing, and figured out how to use kinesio tape for Achilles tendinitis. I put the tape on, and viola! instant relief.

So the plan for the next few days is lots of RICE and PT.

Note

I happened to be in a Dick's Sporting Goods store the other day, and I noticed that the "in" color for women's wear was: hot pink!

Normally I wouldn't go near it, but with the new OK tops, how could I resist? I went back today (with a top for color comparision) and bought hot pink running shorts. I also got a great deal on a winter Under Armor shirt on sale (also hot pink!)

No need to look for markers in the woods this fall--just look for me instead :)

walk 30:00 intensity: (18:00 @1) + (12:00 @2)
(injured)

Intervals of three minute stroll, 2 minute power walk. My foot has been hurting more than usual lately,so I took a day off yesterday. Didn't help. So I tried walking tonight. Seemed to loosened up as I moved. Afterward, it is a bit tight, but no worse than yesterday. Guess the lesson is to keep moving (slowly).

aqua jog 20:00 [3]

The pool was _filled_ with kids at swimming lessons, but no one was using the diving board, so I had the diving well to myself. Although the first life guard told me I had to leave (I promised her I would move out of the way if anyone wanted to dive) and the second asked if I could move to the lanes (probably because he was bored). But the schedule says the diving well is open till 8:30, so I was not going any where. At least, not until my 20 minutes were up :)

walk 45:00 [2]

erg 15:00 [2]

while watching the NCAA lacrosse championships. Very exciting, but also very ugly for Cornell. An unusual school that begged students to attend basketball and football games (for free) but charged admission for hockey and lacrosse.

aqua jog 25:00 intensity: (5:00 @2) + (20:00 @3)

It's been waaayy too long since I did this. Got a monthly pass to the indoor aquatic center at Free State HS. The diving well is much bigger than Park Hill (eelgrassman, you were not exaggerating). I could do bigger "laps" even while avoiding the end where the kids were jumping off the diving board. Much bigger complex and more people in the lap lanes than Park Hill.

Note

We're celebrating with Champagne tonight! It's been a long and stressful journey (18 months since Mike first interviewed for the job) but worth it in the end, of course. Plenty of room for guests; come on by!
