at PNS. Felt really easy because of the "cool weather boost": first run in cooler temps (although the humidity was very high).

a short jaunt around the high school fields. It was 60 degrees and raining--thank you, Gustav! Felt great!

Training at Cuivre River. Long legs alternated with control picking sections. Started OK, but then did exactly what I was warned against: ran along a trail, stopped paying attention, and left the trail too soon. Took a while to relocate, and had some difficulty with the second section of controls (no tapes out today). When I was finally sure exactly where I was, I went back to check out two controls that I had already visited, and see how the areas were mapped. Ran to the third section of control picking, then walked carefully through those controls. Got very tired at the end (plus, it was HOT) and decided I was just going through the motions, I was getting sloppy and not really practicing good O skills, so I stopped.

Followed by a wonderful dip in the lake, and a nice long lunch. Great weekend all around. Thanks Eric for the training and hospitality; thanks Tom for suggesting this event; and thanks everyone else for the great company.
