run/walk warm up/down 20:00 [2]

orienteer race 54:19 [4] *** 4.8 km (11:19 / km)

Day two at Tucson. Yeah! Another good day. Two days in a row, exactly what I needed to do.

Again, I made small mistakes. Still lots of room to improve navigation (and speed). But I paced myself right, and made it around the (agruably very easy) course in under an hour. Even had enough energy for a finish chute sprint :)

Consistency: 11.5
Time lost: 5.5%

I'm most pleased with my physical effort this weekend. In a good race, my average HR is between 155 and 160. Lately, I've run 160 on day one, and been too tired on day two (average HR below 155). This weekend I averaged 158 on both days. Just right.

Beautiful weather, great company, nice map. Thanks TSN for a great meet, and Mook for the fine hospitality. And Valerie for the post-race Peeps :)

orienteer race 1:09:05 [4] *** 5.6 km (12:20 / km)

Day one at Tucson, my first foray into the scary world of F45. There were 7 women in the class, which is great competition.

My number one goal today was not to have a "bad" day. I have quite a streak of "bad day one, better day two" at A meets. I was determined to break that streak.

And I did. Sure, I was slow (walked up hills, jogged flats and down). Sure, I made mistakes. But the mistakes were on the order of one to two minutes. And I never wandered around aimlessly. Yeah ! Finished last in the class, but only minutes behind second through sixth. And I was in the middle of the pack of green course times. Last year, I would have been in the bottom third, and 20+ minutes behind the other F45s.

Consistency:11.1
Time lost: 4.0%

I'm pleased with my progress.

Followed by a fine dinner with Mook, Mike, Mikell and Kris. Only low point to the day was that Mike's cold was worse :(

walk 45:00 [1]

Back to contol 9, in a futile attempt to find my lost magnifier. Slow walk, but I was tired from my course, and it was draining to be out in the sun the whole time, so I'm counting it towards my training.

Note

A nice day exploring Tucson with Mike and Mook. The desert museum was great. Enjoyed seeing the mission and strolling down 4th Ave as well.
