Last run of my SMP test course. I was really hoping to break 10 min/k. But I knew right away that wasn't going to happen today. I went out too fast, thinking about running for time, instead of orienteering. Made a big mistake on #3, where I hit the trail and just started running, without checking where I was first. Went way too far, and had to cut back over the hill. My legs started to get tired by #4 (started to drag my feet, and trip over twigs). I think I was tired at the end of the long week, and the warm temps were no help. Finished the course a little over my previous best time.
Had a nice lunch afterwards, with Mike, Dick and Nancy (who also ran at SMP today).
Note: I just entered my splits, and they tell a different story. I lost at least 5 minutes on my mistake on #3 (I thought it was closer to 2 minutes). Those 5 minutes would have put me under 10 min/k :( Also, I had personal best on several legs, so I was pushing harder than I thought. So, I have learned not to run beyond what I can read on the map, and I'm fitter than I thought.
