run (woods) 40:00 [3]
ahr:147

Jogging through the woods at Wyandotte. I found an area of nice open woods, and I contoured around several hillls. I concentrated on pushing myself to move faster through the woods.

Lately, for some unknown reason, I have been afraid of falling. So it was good practice to go out in the woods today, since it was raining. Of course I fell, but of course, I was fine. Got up and kept on going.

Not a good AOWN day--didn't see another living creature until I returned to the car. There I saw a park ranger, who was probably wondering who would park their car here on such a day.

orienteer race (night) 24:08 [4] *** 2.62 km (9:13 / km)

Re-run of the Bonner time trial. I hadn't run it in awhile, and never at night. I assumed I didn't need a compass, but I was wrong. It's much harder to follow a straight line at night, and I drifted way off on number 3 (see the splits).

My calf felt OK until number 6; had to walk up the hill just after the control. Felt OK for the rest of the run, but it's a bit sore right now.

Still lots of room for running improvement.

Love this December weather; it was 53 degrees tonight.

I needed to give my right calf a break, after my recent long runs. In hindsight, my plan to skip a few days training (while preparing for Christmas) followed by long days over the long weekend was not such a smart idea. Need to follow Peter's ramp the next time.

run/walk 1:45:00 [3]

Slow jog on trails at Clinton. Sixty minutes out on the rocky trails, forty-five minutes back through the fields. I only walked for two minutes at the turn around (because I had to cut through the woods) and brief breaks to take a drink or go up/down particularly hilly sections of the trail.

My first ever 100+ minute continuous jog :)

Followed by a very nice Christmas dinner #2, complete with orange goo.

Did a control-picking course at Wyandotte. Practiced jogging in the woods, and pushing myself up and down hills. Perfect weather, open woods, and the first bald eagle sighting of the season helped make it a great AOWN day.
