orienteer race 1:14:14 [3] *** 4.24 km (17:30 / km)

Farsta loop 1

When we began this mass start event, I was shocked to see my map: 1:15!!! I haven't been on a 1:15 in a long time. My old lady eyes can't handle 1:15 :)

Actually, I couldn't have handled any map very well today. I was just not "into" the map, and never was reading ahead. The footing was rocky, and I struggled. Somehow, I avoided any major mistakes, stayed upright during the stream crossings and did not lose Val's dipstick. I handed it off to her to do the second loop of the farsta.

The sprint course at Bonner. I concentrated on maintaining a steady pace, and paying attention to how my body felt. I hope to be able to duplicate this pace this weekend. Last year, I foolishly started too hard (who was I going to beat, any way ???) This year, my goals are a steady pace, and have fun.

run/walk 30:00 [2]

I checked out the horse trails at Wyandotte today. They weren't too overgrown, and were pretty nice in some places, so they might be a good place to jog until the leaves fall.

I was not that into jogging today, so I walked a lot. My body was really confused; first week of the NFL season, and I'm not lying on the couch drinking a beer???? My, how times have changed...
