walk warm up/down 5:00 [1]
Went to Wyandotte today, with a goal of really pushing it on my test loop. I haven't seen the same improvement this year as last; I think I'm being too lazy and not pushing up the hills.
So, I began with a good warm-up session, so I could start hard. I was moving well, with smooth flow through each control.
On the way to 6, I stepped on the end of a branch, which swung up and hit me full on the the knee cap. Sh*t! I knew immediately that my day was over.
Fortunately, I was close to where I had parked, so I walked back to the car, where I took ibuprofen and wrapped the knee in an ace bandage. It still hurt quite a bit, until I got home and could apply some ice.
This is not what I needed this weekend. I had lots of activities planned, both training and around the house. On the other hand, I've been pretty lucky with these kinds of injuries. In all the years I've been orienteering, this is only the second time I can remember where I've gotten injured while out on the course.
