(4:15am: went shopping to get lunch supplies for training camp in NY. Made sandwiches and sent Izzy & Dave off. That was kinda sad; I would have liked to go. But I have plenty to do here...)
7am: started going through emails. working on 2014 schedule.
8am: drafted the flyer about the AZ training camp. We have reserved the Kentucky Camp buildings. Talked with Leif in Sweden to talk about the date of the Tucson meet and the maps. Having some trouble getting hold of Mark Everett.
9am: Drafted the flyer for the March 28-30 training camp. HVO (thanks, Guy!) has reserved the lodge.
Working on newsletter.

Running 30:00 [2]

From Harvard Square to Danehy to get my bike, which I left there after CSU training on Wednesday. Rode the bike to the Broadway bicycle shop and left it there for a tuneup, with Colin. Jogged into work from there. Feeling pretty good; first time I've exercised in the morning for a long time. Not counting the work commute.

Have been trying to choose other activities than junior stuff the past few days. Will turn back to it this weekend.

Had a good talk with Glen yesterday. I am excited about some news that will be announced in ONA that he told me about (that's to get anyone reading this to check out the next ONA...). Also I was interested to hear from him that we may be able to work with some Olympic sports materials related to juniors and safety. He's investigating.

We are starting to pull together a 2013 USA juniors yearbook. It will come in two versions: a 6 by 9 black and white book (cheap to produce and so perhaps more people will be able to get it), and an eBook. The idea is to use material from throughout the year, and throughout the country. While a lot of it is available online, this will make a nice memento that people might enjoy pulling out 20 years from now and reminiscing... I just found out we can get 40% off if we finish it real quick, but we probably won't make that deadline. We'll publish with lulu. There are some other ideas floating around: calendar, color photo book; could make a nice holiday gift package...

BAOC and DVOA meets are coming up soon. Erin will be at BAOC and a bunch of juniors will be leading things at DVOA. Sandwich sale at both. Course reviews, junior area, ...

JST application is available now.

Had a test in Evolutionary Developmental Biology. It was fun.
Spent the rest of the evening hanging out with the family: piano, watched Isabel do her armchair orienteering, played Pandemic, read up on some science, stuff like that.

2014 calendar fix request
Edited safety doc, emailed PGoodwin
Reviewed action items, emailed Erin

Originally I agreed to be administrator for 1 year. I extended it to two, and it is time to start thinking about the replacement who will take over next fall. I hope that by then some things that Erin has pushed for will be happening at a steady level. Already in year two some things are easier, like the JST application we spent so much time on last year, and largely stands for this year.

Orienteering 1:30:00 [1]

Went to Baldwin Hill with Linc and Dave. Linc and I did part of a narrow corridor-O that Erin set.
Linc is currently running orange at local meets, yellow at A meets. Moves up to orange officially in 2014.
He is a good, careful orienteer. Tends to have consistent results, and perhaps a next step for him is figuring out how to simplify.
