Administration 1:30:00 [0]

Lots of Admin stuff has been going on but not logged, but figured this was worth it.
First exercise with the new crop of 5th graders. There are just 26 of them, in two classes, which is actually pretty exciting. I love working with 5th graders. And with 1st graders, and 2nd graders, and... I forgot to ask them the most important question: what was it like working as a team? What worked well? What didn't work well? And validate everything.
They went in pairs, did a white course on the school grounds, using Ed's map.
They had fun except for 2 kids.
I love talking about it afterward. I love how energized they get. I love how fun orienteering is.

Today I had 4 meetings, with Linda Kohn, Bob Forgrave, Bob Frost, Brenda Blacklock, Rob Minto. Which meant I kind of missed dinner with the awesome CSU crowd, but at least I got to say hi!

Learned a lot of cool stuff.

Note

Ha! Echinacea works.
In this study of 755 people, they saw

  • 26% reduction in onsets of colds and in days of having a cold
  • 59% reduction in recurring infections
  • 52% more of the placebo group (not getting echinacea) felt the need to additionally treat with pain medication.

And, whoa, some researchers think echinacea's efficacy (ability to stimulate human macrophages) is due to bacteria in the plant whose molecular components are recognized by our immune system. Reference. older reference.

And, yes, I have a cold.
