Dancing 20:00 [1]

This was good.
Rachael's bat mitzvah.
Me + 75 13-year-old girls on the dance floor. And a smattering of other fuddy duddy parents like myself.

Bicycling 4:00 [1]

Dream: Hanging out at some acquaintances desert compound, I got slashed by cacti in my knee. Initially it didn't seem too bad, but pulling out the blades resulted in a bunch of blood and an ambulance was called, and Dave and others went back into the compound leaving me in a car. The car was surrounded by inner city and people trying to get into the car perhaps to see what there might be of value. A police officer (black woman) arrived and then an ambulance but it was sort of a clown ambulance, way up on some structure and to get to where I needed to go the ambulance attendant took me through some sort of funhouse. Next thing I know, I guess the ambulance thing didn't work and I'm walking through inner city with a couple of female acquaintances. The knee is worse, 5 deep horizontal cuts half an inch to an inch deep, not staying together very well. I could really use a needle and thread. I hold it together with my hands as we walk. I think that maybe I'll ask the doctor to look into my pre-existing sore knee problem since he'll have full access to the bone anyway. The neighborhood is feeling more and more dicey; then up ahead there are people fighting and other people sprawled out and bars, and vomit everywhere. We turn to try and go a different way but the projects are built so that it's hard to continue straight through. Finally I find some middle-class looking white guys outside a liquor store, and a couple of them agree to give me a ride. Their car is flooded with a couple inches of water (convertible, perhaps), and there is a down comforter. I notice some diapers in the back and ask about them, and they say they're adopting a kid and I think isn't that nice, two young gay men starting a family. Then they take me to their home instead of the hospital and there are a dozen or more young men there and I think that it's some really communal kind of family but it feels more like a party, and my girlfriends kind of disappear into the crowd. I am still trying to get someone to take me to a hospital and finally after overturning a few beer-cup-strewn tables and speechifying I get a couple guys who are leaving anyway to agree to take me to the hospital but then I have to run around looking for my coat and hope they'll wait and then thankfully I wake up.
