Running 20:00 [1]

Slow run with Isabel and Dave to the point and back.

Bicycling 35:00 [1]

Biked to Boston to see "A Very Merry Scientology Pageant" which was funny, and informative! 8 extremely talented kids playing to an audience of adults, exposing in song, dance and theatrical presentation the cult of Scientology. Recommended.

Bicycling 44:00 [2]

Biked to west Cambridge, then home, then to work, then home.

Running 33:00 [3]

Ran with Jeff, because he needs to run with a partner now that he has EIFAS or whatever it is. He showed me how to use the epipen before we set out. Jeff is great. There was an article quoting him in the Boston Globe yesterday.

‘‘Last year, my daughter and I looked through the Scholastic book flier to count how many items were actually books. It was a shockingly low percentage.’’ Last week he and other parents organized the school’s first non-Scholastic book fair.

‘‘We wanted to offer kids the chance to look at books that are distinct from the popular culture and from commercialism,’’ Melnick says. ‘‘It’s not that I have anything against popular culture — I teach it [at Babson College]! But children are immersed in popular culture every day. They need some protected space in their lives that is not penetrated by the same characters, the same companies.’’

Melnick turned to Porter Square Books for his stock. As he and another parent opened boxes and arranged books last week, he was pleased at how the hand-picked selections from store owner Carol Stolz reflected the school’s multicultural population and included titles by Haitian-American writers.

Made some mistakes early on. On my own most of the way. Lots of fun.
