Long ski! I figure I should probably do a lot of these this year, since the racing will be skewed towards many marathons (birkie, great ski race, yellowstone 24) vs little ski-o (tahoe, us champs) this year. Felt good for the first couple hours, but by noon the snow had warmed up and gotten gummy and it started being work.

Also got new boots yesterday, new Rossi skate boots, which I wore today. It did occur to me that a long ski was not the best time to break in new boots, but I survived with only one giant blister under my heel. I think I could probably wear real socks inside these, which might be good since they have less padding then the Fischers.

Easy putz down to the end of the valley, then a scrappy ski up the ungroomed road on the other side. Parts of me are a little sore after the weekend, but I think that's more from middle-seat airplane time than from the running.

Chilly spriddle distance. Snow on the ground, which was crunchy and cold, and the running was half through open fields and half in a dark greenish patch of new forest. Which would have been all fine, except for the couple times we had to wade through ten foot wide ankle deep streams, which made the entire adventure more adventurous. No problems with navigation though, and felt pretty good running even with the numb feet. or maybe because of.
