Super nice ski around the valley at TD. Warm greasy snow from Thursday made things nice and fast.

Easy morning ski around TD with Carol. Nice and sunny, except for the short time coming down the valley when we got run over by the snowstorm.

Anna and I went down to Prosser to pick up the flags from last week's trainings. Skied the two courses (c, d), then went for a bonus course on last December's night-o course. It was kindof interesting switching from ski-o mode to summer-o mode right away, on the same terrain. The first two courses I was only reading trails, and the second I was only reading contours and veg. Also went for a bonus ski down the crust out on the reservoir between 2-3.

TD night race
They groomed just before we started, which turned everything into 4" of sugar powder, which sucked. Also I was the only one that showed up with a headlamp tonight, which was awesome.
In 5th out of the start, top 3 were ahead at the hill and I was just behind 4th. He pulled away right at the top of the downhill, I was taking it a little easy because of the sugar, and right at the bottom turn I see 4th place guy pulling himself out of the woods where he bailed on the turn. Oops. Yay headlamps. Stayed ahead through the second lap uphill, then he passed me again on the downhill, but then was weaving all over the place at the bottom so I couldn't get by him. Whatever, I got in the tracks and double poled past him. He sortof gave up after that.

Tahoe Ski-o tour day 7: Royal Gorge.
map and qr.
Well, at least the rest of the week had good races, this was fairly disappointing. Weird map printing (purple dashed trails with green marker dots on them? red buildings?), crappy once-skied dotted trails, lots of doglegs, trails that were mapped very wrong, control dots not really on trails, etc. Also the circle for #3 was not on a trail by a lot, and after checking both trails nearby I figured it was a just computer error (as in the control in condes accidentally got dragged really far from where it was supposed to be), so I bailed and kept going. Turns out it actually was just hung randomly in the middle of the woods there.

Its just disappointing because we've worked so hard over the last 5 years to get the maps and the coursesetting and everything for these races to improve so much, and the rest of the week was so great, and then we finish on this. oops. At least they did a good job grooming today and the skiing itself was great.

skate ski warm up/down 24:10 [2] 5.33 km (4:32 / km) +117m 4:05 / km
shoes: 13 fischer rcr ski-o (109)

Cooldown, and then I skied down to #3 to look for it, since everybody else seemed to find it ok (I was the first one out, so no tracks when I got there). Found it, it was in the middle of the woods, but not so much where the circle was.
