Training Log Archive: biggins

WCup middle. Meh. First half was up and down in some gnarly big reentrants, where I made a couple bad route choices and did lots of bonus climb. Also got really tired. Second half was up on the flat bits where we've been for the last two days, but my skis were feeling pretty slow by then so I was beat. Not sure if it was the wax or because I was just tired, the temps when I finished were just above the wax range, so probably both.

warmup, plus another half hour of bonus running warmup while they broke everything and delayed the start. wcup1: 2, wcup2: 0

WCup sprint. Very solid race, all the navigation was good. Maybe a little hesitation on the second to last one, but I wasn't expecting the race to be almost over right after the spectator control or such a sharp turn, so it caught me off guard a little bit, but still managed to execute it clean.

Also on the ski-o event propaganda schedule: ski-o tour 2013 - FRA/SUI/ITA, Jan 5-13, from Geneva to the Jura to Trentino. I'd obviously be leery of going to france, but the first event is a mass start sprint, so you know, awesome.

Sprint Relay!
Last minute entry with Sharon, as I didn't really know she and Scott were coming until a week or two ago. That also meant that I had been planning on today as the model event day, and arrived in Sumy at midnight yesterday. So a little sleepy, and hadn't really eaten much, and scraped and brushed the skis in the parking lot, but conditions were easy so the wax was fine.

We somehow got start number 4 (gee thanks Ali), so with the mass start lanes at 8 wide and with 55 teams, there were lots of people double poling up the start hill trying to flatten me. Survived with nothing too broken, got a little confused trying to figure out where exactly we were approaching the start triangle from, and then settled down for the rest of the loop. Just behind Scott (on a mixed team with RUS) for the first half, then he made a big mistake after the spectator control and disappeared.

The map for my loop 1. Loop 3 was shorter north and longer south, and loop 2 was the opposite direction, I'm just too lazy to take pictures of those. There wasn't any forking, they just randomized loops.

Pretty much all by myself, and the woods weren't terribly complicated, so clean all the way around.

Definitely all by myself, so still clean, plus I almost flattened one of the control monitors.

cooldown, then straight to lunch, then straight to waxing, then straight to opening ceremony, then straight to sortof dinner, then straight to team leaders meeting (chaos!), then back home to devour most of our traditional ukrainian ceremonial bread of deliciousness.
