Note

Aw look its snowing again. I missed that.

Watched Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus tonight. Zero. Its pretty terrible. I don't even have standards for this sort of thing and it pained me to watch. "How do you know when the eggs hatch?" "There are 30' baby crocodiles walking around. Eating people."

Heading down to SF tomorrow for a sidehilling poison oak slogfest. I'm kind of excited already.

road bike 6:38:50 [3] 105.72 mi (15.9 mph) +2166m

It had to start sometime. Woot. Lap around the lake. Yeah that lake. It was actually easier than I was expecting, at least for the trip around the lake. There were only two good climbs (Spooner Lake and Emerald Bay), and both paled in comparison to the first climb over Brockway Summit past Northstar just to get down to the lake. Spent some good quality time down on the aerobars when possible, which was longer than I expected I could for this early in the season. Stopped a couple times for munchies, this time I was trying out a pile of cliff / gu blocks that I've acquired from ski race freebies. They're good for the first couple, but after six hours of them they start to build into a heavy gummie bear rock inside your stomach. Good to know. Only had two water bottles, and never refilled them (all the water fountains are still turned off/frozen). Ran dry around Tahoe City, but didn't really feel too dehydrated, I just wanted more to try to settle the gummie bear block. Though in retrospect the scale says I lost 14 pounds, not even including the two bottles, so maybe I should have had some more. And finally, there are many many times when living at the top of a big tall mountain is totally awesome. Mile 103 is not one of them.

With Jonis up along Alder creek, some trail where it was free of snow and flooding, but mostly just along the hillside. Then we climbed up to the other side of the road and ran back along the upper hillside, which was way more sunny and mostly snow free.

road bike 2:21:48 [3] 36.74 mi (15.5 mph) +667m

Ride down through town, out to the airport, then wandering along the bike path a bit. Bonus half mile of hikeabike through knee deep snow in the middle there, which was super fun in road cleats. Sunny and warm, not even wearing the shell. I almost didn't need the fleece tights. Almost.

run 56:17 intensity: (22 @1) + (30 @2) + (10:15 @3) + (45:10 @4) 5.71 mi (9:51 / mi) +88m 9:24 / mi

With Jonis through Donner SP, about half on road half on snow, then along the back side of the lake for a bit. He kept going around the lake, but I turned around to see how much of the rest of the park was melted out already. Not much, so I ended up coming back along the gravel at the edge of the lake, as it hasn't flooded yet so there was a good 20' wide swath to run along, with only an inch or two of meltwater running down it.

mapping 1:00:00 [1]

A couple hours down at donner sp by the lake. Still snow covered in the woods, but only like three feet down there, so all the rocks I could see were mappable.

Another sweet day at txc. Icy and warm and fast. I'm happy. I could end the season on the last two days.
