Back out to the same map as Thursday with Alex and Cristina and Bubo, to play at some more ski-o. Did the women's final from the other day, which went well except for one missed turn. A couple inches of new snow on the ground, but not enough to really matter.

Switched to the men's final map, and did a bunch of controls backwards.

Easy skate out and back on the vasaloppetloipe for a bit. Snowing pretty hard on the way back, but not really so cold or windy.

dp ski 1:01:34 intensity: (3:30 @1) + (16:06 @2) + (37:23 @3) + (2:41 @4) + (1:54 @5) 12.9 km (4:46 / km) +50m 4:41 / km

dp out to the ski stadium and then a couple laps around looking for controls and/or americans. found one.

also, Dear Leki:
I hate your pole straps. Ignoring the stupid attachment loop I have to replace every week, today I broke the metal D-ring that the velcro strap goes through. Its metal, how can it break by pulling on it? Also, its on a pole. You're supposed to pull on them.
Love
Greg

ahr:145 max:158 spiked:8/8c shoes: 11 fischer rcr skio (110)

Prologue sprint with the older juniors from the ski-o school. Yay ski-o. Don't have the map since those ended up in a hasty pile before the final.

ski-o! race 31:39 intensity: (35 @0) + (11 @1) + (17 @2) + (8:21 @3) + (22:15 @4) **** 5.55 km (5:42 / km) +38m 5:31 / km
ahr:148 max:158 spiked:16/16c shoes: 11 fischer rcr skio (110)

Final for the sprint, starting in reverse finish order from the prologue. Pretty good, if long for a sprint. Never saw the results, but I beat a couple guys in the prologue, and almost caught the guy in front of me in the final.

ski-o! 40:42 intensity: (2:09 @1) + (8:39 @2) + (27:58 @3) + (1:56 @4) **** 6.71 km (6:04 / km) +54m 5:50 / km

After many nutella and meatball sandwiches, then a good nap, then finding Cristina at the train station, we went back out to the same map with the younger juniors. They were doing the same courses as the group from the morning, so Alex and I got some blank maps and drew each other line-o courses. I missed a turn a bit into it, but everything kept making sense for another half dozen turns, so by the time I figured out I was lost I was actually really lost. Wandered around for a bit until I figured it out, then finished the rest without many more problems.

Alex wasn't done yet, so I went back out and redid the part I messed up to try to figure out where I got lost. Found the turn I blew threw, and everything made more sense after that, but was actually still pretty tricky in that area.

ski-o! 34:56 intensity: (1:03 @1) + (7:54 @2) + (21:57 @3) + (4:02 @4) **** 5.23 km (6:41 / km) +32m 6:29 / km
ahr:136 max:156 shoes: 11 fischer rcr skio (110)

Swapped maps with Alex (to the one I drew), and went back out. We were already at the finish of mine, so I did it backwards. Which would be fine except that I let Alex doing all the hills in the easy direction, so I got to do them in the crazy directions.

Sweden! In Mora with Alex at the ski-o school, which is pretty sweet. Skied into town along the river on a snowmobile track, then picked up the vasaloppet trail and went out and back for a couple km on that.

dp ski 23:00 [3] 5.0 km (4:36 / km)
shoes: 11 fischer rcr skio (110)

dp'd lots of it to make sure alex didn't go too fast and break.

Note

pictures from the last adventure:
Switzerland
Italy

a couple things worthy of captions:

Engadin race trail: see those little people on the left? Its skate groomed all the way over to there, then the two dozen classic tracks start.

The really discount brand was called meh.

And attention groomer and/or bouncy castle wannabes: Italy wins.

skate ski 1:04:00 intensity: (14 @1) + (5:07 @2) + (20:13 @3) + (38:26 @4) 11.94 km (5:22 / km) +381m 4:37 / km
ahr:147 max:162 shoes: 10 atomic red cheetahs

A pretty miserable last ski at home. Windy and slushing, the foot of new stuff we got last night sucked up all the water and turned to potatoes. Jonis and I headed up to the ridgeline, since going super slow up didn't seem as bad as going super slow on a flat. Coming down wasn't much faster though. To Sweden tomorrow!

Quick easy morning ski around the valley. Solid and fast. Finished up just as it started snowing like crazy again.
