six hours of mapping at Evergreen Lodge. got the whole cabin area, the grounds, and even some random bonus forest off to the side because I was on a roll.

ghettocad stats: six hours of mapping (but not on all the time) at full brightness and 60fps ate it down to 42% battery. only crashed once. with a built in gps this thing would be badass.

also John Muir preferred the taste of Sugar Pine syrup to that of Maple syrup. take that new england.

freebie camped on a forest service road down a bit, and went for an easy run around Ackerson Mt right at sunset. also a bonus trip up to the top, since whats the fun of going outside if you don't climb to the top of something.

sunshine! so at home we've been getting a couple inches every night this week, but it melted out during the day (even though it was still snowing). but up high it all stuck, so the tops got 2-3 feet. got out late since I was up until 4 last night, but still got in a couple runs before the sun turned it all into quikrete.

run with Donatas through Prosser. its just far enough away to be out of the storm shadow of the mountain, so it was pretty nice and mostly calm during the run. driving home was somewhat exciting though.

this was actually pretty tiring, lots of off-camber climb. I'm gonna have to start training again before rollerskiing season starts...

also ran into this guy just hanging out.

Went down to Sacramento for a GCO meet. It was actually pretty good, if you ignore the spikey-dead-grass part or the head-high-thistles part. QR map. The first half across the river was mostly open grass fields, made a mistake on 6 where I came to the river too far right, and then stopped short on 9.

Second half was an old gravel mine, which had lots of twenty foot berms of cobblestones, mixed together with high thickets of thistle and PO. In retrospect, a better route to 11 was probably north through the parking lot rather than by 17, up and down that rocky berm was super dodgy. Took a crappy route into 13, where apparently "you were supposed to know the green was thicker over there" and come in from the back side. Got stuck trying to climb out of the hole that 15 was in, the whole edge was green, so on the second try I just swam uphill through the thistle, which wasn't the most fun thing ever.

Started four minutes in front of Donatas, lost 3.5 of that by the halfway bridge crossing, then he got totally lost in the mine and blew 20 minutes. yea for navigation.

Sat around afterwards taking pictures of ducks for a while, then it got crazy hot, so I retreated home to my snowstorm asap. Speaking of which, I think I have to go skiing now.
