dp ski 1:53:00 [3] 10.0 km (11:18 / km)

yea snow. ok not really classic, more of a double pole fest. up on the ridgeline on the fire roads, it was good where the bc guys had tracked it, but otherwise there was a foot or two of fluffy concrete. got up to the flat part on top and tracked out a section and did a few laps back and forth up there.

run 55:00 [3] 5.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

from the far valley of TD up to the ridgeline, over to hawk's peak, down the back side, and back around. nice crunchy snow up on the ridgeline. feet finally felt good with the new shoes, my old ones were killing me and the UPS guy got lost for a couple days trying to find the house (though the guy with my termination papers seemed to get here just fine...). suprisingly calm and warm up top, and a sweet sunset.

roller ski 59:00 [3] 18.0 km (3:17 / km)
shoes: v2 aeros #2

drove down to Boca reservior, did a lap along the road to top of the same hill as a few weeks ago. the fire was still going, but it moved a mile or two down the valley and it wasn't windy so it wasn't too bad. stumbled on a frost heave that was hidden in a shadow, planted a pole right in front of one of the wheels and ran straight into it. through a fantastic acrobatic move I managed to not go down, but the pole tip was trashed. fortunately I was only a km or so from the car, so I gave up on the second lap and went home.

Note

run 50:00 [3] 4.0 mi (12:30 / mi)

as I had the afternoon off, I went exploring off the back side of Donner Ridge. dropped down the Donner Lake Rim Trail all the way down to I-80, which was a good 1200+ or so down the valley. Nice single track the whole way, then ran into the off ramp at the bottom.

hiking 30:00 [2] 2.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

back up one of the logging roads on the front side of the mt. wicked steep, so the running wasn't happening.

roller ski 1:22:00 [3] 23.2 km (3:32 / km)
shoes: v2 aeros #2

two laps in front of the house. sortof warm, but still some ice on the roads in places.

run race 54:45 [4] 7.0 mi (7:49 / mi)

Donner Lake Turkey Trot. One lap around the lake, 7 miles, sunny side first, cold icy hilly side second. Started at the west end, then came along Donner Pass rd (totally flat). I paced behind some old guy and did the first 3 miles in just over 21, then it turned into the park and got a little hilly and he pulled away. Coming back on the far side of the lake was rolling hills, and it was all in the shade so the road had patchy snow and ice just to keep it interesting. Did the next 3 miles in about 24, and then decided this race would be a whole lot better if we had a smaller lake. I think it was above freezing in the sun for the first half, but the second part was down in the 20s somewhere. Finished 43rd out of 150 or so.
