orienteering 1:41:00 [4] 10.0 km (10:06 / km) +650m 7:37 / km

BAOCs Pacheco Pass a-meet.
Wide open grassy hillside terrain, almost no vegetation at all. I did both days in running shorts without any problems. Tons of hills though, I'm not sure which was worse, the climbing or the sidehilling. We certainly got plenty of both though.

Friday Nov 6, 2009 #

run 26:00 [2] 2.5 mi (10:24 / mi)

easy run around the nature trail loop behind the house. it couldn't decide if it wanted to rain or sleet, so it did both.

Wednesday Nov 4, 2009 #

run 1:17:00 [3] 7.5 mi (10:16 / mi)

across the middle of TD, down to the end of the powerline on the east side, then back up along a fire road that cut across the middle of the hill down to euer valley. I'm pretty sure its a ski trail, but I don't think its been open in a couple years, at least not for ski-o races. It cuts into the avalanche zone of hawk's peak, so I think they have it closed a lot. anyway nice rolling road, then a super steep singletrack straight up the hill to a higher road that cut back and all the way across again to the west end. nice and warm, but a little chilly up on top in the wind.

roller ski 1:31:00 [3] 24.9 km (3:39 / km)
shoes: v2 aeros #2

three laps in front of the house. dp on the flats and little hills, skate up the big one. this actually felt pretty good, I could go hard enough that I was actually hurting at times, instead of just wheezing for air the whole time.

Monday Nov 2, 2009 #

run 59:00 [3] 6.2 mi (9:31 / mi)

along the paved Truckee river bike path for about two miles, then another mile along a dirt trail on top of an old railroad grade along the river.

roller ski 2:07:00 [3] 36.0 km (3:32 / km)
shoes: v2 aeros #2

Went out to Boca Reservoir, which is supposedly one of the good spots around here for long rollerskis. Started at the dam at the SE corner, and went north towards Stampede for about 5.5 miles, just short of the next dam. They're doing a controlled burn (pic from yesterday) up there, so it started getting thick too much further up.

Pretty good road, flatish, with a couple short shallow hills, then the long one towards the end. No shoulders at all, but then again not really any traffic and long sightlines so I never had any problems with cars.

Did two laps before I got totally smoked out. I think this is the longest rollerski workout I've ever done, but possibly the fewest cars I've ever seen during one.
