Lap #6, 7:30
The fun lap.
Slept for another hour after lap five, since I only had enough time for one more lap anyway. Daylight by the time I headed out on this one, but still cold (25), and the trail was iced up solid. I felt really good though, it was nice to be able to see where I was going, and the icy track was nice and fast. By the time I hit Glacier Pt it was already 45 degrees in the sun, so I went out to the overlook to take some pictures. Found a couple people that I had passed on the first two laps yesterday while they were trudging out to the cabin on the Pt. They said they were impressed that I kept passing them back and forth all afternoon, and then they just looked confused after I told them what I was really up to. Silly normal people. Took my time on the way back, partly because it was turning out to be a great day and partly because my legs were just shot. Still had a fast lap time since the conditions were so great (cold snow, hot air). Stripped all the way down to a t-shirt by the time I hit the last climb into the parking lot.
Finished with an hour to spare on the 24, but that was definitely not enough for a full lap, and the only skis with any kind of slush wax left on them were the classic skis, and I was just too tired to go there. So I cleaned the jetboil and got it working again (much easier when its warm), then made some mt-dew-oatmeal-blueberry-soup. As delicious as it sounds.
So I don't want to go so far as to say that this was fun, but I think I'd do it again if I could sucker some other people into coming along. 7 laps is definitely possible, as I had an hour to spare plus at least two of nap time. But I don't think you could make 8, since you'd need to average three hours per lap for skiing + restocking food from the car, and by the end of the dark laps I was taking three hours for just the skiing.
