road bike 6:03:00 [3] 110.6 mi (18.3 mph)

I put the aerobars back on, filled the shirt pockets with ski race cliff bar samples (the cute little ones) and just headed north on PCH. Got up to Camarillo, then headed over to Oxnard before I decided I probably should turn around. Lots of crazy wind directions out in the farm fields around there which made it tough riding, but they were in the middle of harvesting (half strawberry fields, half celery) so everything smelled good. Got back onto PCH and picked up a tail wind for the last 30 home.

Note

Had a day to kill before Andrew went home, and it wasn't snowing in LA, so we went sport fishing out in the ocean. Didn't catch a thing.

hiking 2:00:00 [3] 17.0 mi (7:04 / mi)

Still socked in in the morning, it was above freezing and still snowing slop, and we were just miserable, so we decided to declare defeat and bail. Hiked all the way back out to the trailhead, which was somewhat downhill and not so hard (except for the 60lb pack thing). Since it had been pretty cold for the last couple days the streams were down quite a bit and we didn't have any trouble on the crossings (never even had to take the boots off). It was still snowing hard (hadn't let up all weekend), and for the last couple hours we were down low enough and it was warm enough that it was just barely snow, so it managed to soak us all the way through.

All the pics from the weekend.
