Did the circumnavigate-the-Santa-Monica-mountain-range ride. Started off climbing up over Sepulveda pass, which wasn't as bad as I was expecting, just cold. Then down into the SF valley and west out along the north side of the mountains. Really nice roads once I got out past Calabasas. Rolling hills and open horse farms, a lot like northern Baltimore Co. Had a gusty headwind for most of it though. The last climb before dropping down the west side had an insane descent on it. Super steep down a windy canyon. Wasn't sure the the brakes would actually keep me slow enough to make the turns, and this was from a dead stop at the top. Survived that, then out into the farms around Camarillo and back along PCH (with a sweet tailwind - held 27 for about 10 miles). Route was roughly
this, with less ocean swimming than may be implied. Turned out to be 98 miles, so I had to loop around a section at the end to push it over. 100 just sounds better.
