Sycamore Canyon to La Jolla valley. perfectly clear day. cool (50s) and breezy on the ridgetops. gee if CA could do this more often it would actually be nice around here.

over to anderson peak, then back down to the car. very cool hike, will be good in the winter. if there's anything left. they closed and evactuated the wilderness a couple hours after I left.

orienteering 1:20:00 [3] 4.0 km (20:00 / km) +200m 16:00 / km

since I was halfway there already, and since I didn't want to go back home since it was covered in ash, I drove down to san diego for a meet at Palomar SP. unfortunately the mountain next to it was also on fire. like the rest of southern california. the map was pretty sketchy, and I got skeptical when I was copying the course from the master map and it had features that my map didn't, and they were used as the controls. made it about halfway through the course after struggling on every control and got totally frustrated and bailed. too tired after not much sleep last night. good thing too, since I heard on the radio that they closed the road north to home because of fire about 1/2 an hour after I drove past.
