Smokier than average this morning. But not too hot yet so that was good.

Pretty great run on Incline Flume trail to Marlette Flume to the end of Marlette Lake and back. Fantastic views the whole way. Fairly totally flat, which in some ways seems harder than things with hills, but is also much easier. But at least it's at 8k' the whole time.

It was a little smoky (big yosemite fire), but not as bad as it looked down in south lake, and nowhere near what it is at home now.

The last couple long runs I've switched from solid foods or gu to all Tailwind, and I think it's working out better. Stomach was fine for 99% of it, then started feeling barfy about 400m from the parking lot. Probably more due to the heat and smoke though.

Spooked a bear from about 10' away in the thick part at the far end. He made a halfhearted attempt to climb his tree, got zero feet up it, and turned around to look at me.

TruckeeOC training at Boreal. Around the bottom part of the map on lots of open granite. Fun stuff. Got lost a lot by not really paying attention to anything.

Early o'clock run up to somewhere on the Boca ridge. High 30s when I left, high 70s when I got back. While there's definitely something still not right with my back, it never really hurt, so that's good.

From Bear Valley lodge up the hill towards Lake Alpine (with Brendan and Nadine for that part), which I was intending to run around. But then the trail didn't go where my dodgy map said it would, and was closer to another trail up Mt Reba, so I ran up that. Super nice up towards the top, all wildflowers and views. Found somebody's phone at the summit, Carol spent the rest of the morning playing phone tag with their mom trying to get it back to them.

About a mile from the end I pulled a muscle in my upper back, which now hurts a ridiculous amount when I move. I assume it was from a combination of lifting too many rocks over the last week, not sleeping ever, and stealthily sneaking out of the hotel room (to not wake up James) to run this morning with no stretching at all. Diving home on super windy 4 wasn't great.
