skate ski 1:27:05 [3] 19.44 km (4:29 / km) +494m 3:58 / km
shoes: 13 fischer rcr ski-o (109)

Waiting until it warmed up to a pleasant 17 degrees, then went out and rocked some excellent blue wax. Snow was mostly still squeaky cold, and it was still pretty windy out, but at least it was sunny.

skate ski 1:13:21 [3] 13.49 km (5:26 / km) +299m 4:54 / km
shoes: 13 fischer rcr ski-o (109)

Ski with Jon down to the valley and a little bit up the mountain. Super duper windy out, with a couple inches of cold fluffy powder on the trails.
4 PM

dp ski 44:03 [3] 9.09 km (4:51 / km) +122m 4:33 / km
shoes: 13 fischer rcr ski-o (109)

Daily double pole, which I think will become a thing, at least until I get strong enough to bring back the dpod.
Super duper cold out, with lots of wind, even worse than this morning (though this time I had twice as many clothes on). Well on its way towards zero for the next night or two.

skate ski 1:46:46 [3] 24.86 km (4:18 / km) +675m 3:47 / km
shoes: 13 fischer rcr ski-o (109)

From 60 degrees in Canada back to 15 in California. Snow was even colder, lots of squeaking going on along the shady back side trails. But snow conditions on the top of the mountain were fairly awesome, better than anything last year. The bottom half is still crap though.
3 PM

dp ski 49:18 [3] 12.37 km (3:59 / km) +153m 3:45 / km
shoes: 13 fischer rcr ski-o (109)

Back out for an afternoon double pole, down along the road into the valley. Snow was comfortably up to purple temperature, and it was quite nice out.

Note

Fun fact: our house in truckee is only 3.5 minutes of latitude away from the house in md. That's 4 miles further south.
12 PM

run 1:00:27 [3] 6.33 mi (9:33 / mi) +29m 9:25 / mi

Run with Carol around the lake at her house, then a bonus loop down through the park. A little bit of snow on the ground, plus a few icy flooded spots.

TD opened today, so Carol and I got out for a quick loop up the hill before heading to the airport. Plane was an hour late, but we have a 15 hour layover in Dallas tonight anyway. Then two more flights all day tomorrow. Canada is far away.

Note

Had Carol's greencard interview in Sac today. Instablizzard starts just as we get down to the highway, we put chains on, they totally close the highway for half an hour, then chain control was 30 miles over the other side (instead of the usual 10). Parking in Sac was busy, the uscis building had a 20 minute metal detector line, and we got to the interview waiting room with a solid 4 minutes to spare. Interview was fine, we got each other's names right, and there didn't seem to be any problems. Driving home, we stop for gas, get back on the highway and the car clunks each time it shifts, then instead of going from 3-4 it wants to go from 3-2, which is many rpms. Wait for aaa for an hour, they won't tow it over the pass in the snowstorm, so he drives us to a couple rental car companies before we find one with a car. Yaris hits 60 on the highway, but only 45 going uphill. Fortunately no chains on the drive home. Don't know where my car is, they'll drop it in truckee when the snow clears. Meanwhile we're headed to Canada.

TruckeeSkiOC training at Auburn. Had five people out, including a couple new people, and even put out real flags. Or at least the pin flags, as opposed to the invisible kind. Snow conditions are pretty fantastic up there right now. Did the loops (2-1-3) hard with a couple minutes of easy skiing in between. Really felt like puking at the top of the big climb from 3-5 on 1, but I'm not sure if that was from the climb or from the altitude or from seasickness from reading the all important bonus wordsearch training.

The epic blizzard of the decade we were supposed to get this week sortof fizzled, we got all of an inch at the house. The storm stalled for a while just on the other side of the pass, so ASC got two feet or so (despite only being 5 miles away) which is good, they have most of their core trails opened up now.

ASC. It actually froze overnight, so everything was solid, but there isn't enough snow to till it, so everything was super rolly. My ankles aren't ready for that crap yet.

run 1:00:55 [3] 5.78 mi (10:32 / mi) +193m 9:33 / mi

Finished up the job in LA yesterday, so now I'm back to being gainfully unemployed. Went down below the snow line for a run on the new mtb trail, which was snow-free on the sunny side of the valley and foot-deep water with icebergs on the way back along the stream.
2 PM

skate ski 57:30 [3] 10.23 km (5:37 / km) +143m 5:15 / km

Up to ASC for some "winter". Not actually too bad, snow cover was fine considering its been raining for a week, there were just a few ditches to jump over that they'd dug to drain all the water.
