hiking 2:00:00 [3] 7.0 mi (17:09 / mi)

Hike from the boreal exit of 80, north on the PCT to Castle pass, then up the ridgeline to Castle peak. Back down the fire road.

Looked at two more houses today, both good. One was pretty big and had this awesome maze of lofts to it, but was hidden way in the back of the neighborhood. The other was a little smaller but up really close to TDXC.

run 1:07:00 [3] 5.8 mi (11:33 / mi)

up in Truckee this weekend looking for a place to live. checked out two places in Tahoe Donner. not bad, but not great. two more tomorrow.

went for a run up along the ridge at the top of the ski area, from one end of the downhill area, down to the west end of the XC area, then up to Hawk's peak, along the ridge to an overlook to Donner Lake (we skied this part last winter), then back along the ridge of the downhill area. route. very nice trails, half double track fire roads, half single track, all open for mtb.

mtn bike 5:00:00 [3] 25.0 mi (5.0 mph)

12 hour AR at Pawtuckaway with Dad and Alex.
The biking was maybe half easily ridable dirt roads, and half twisty wet rocky singletrack (or just straight bushwhacking) that I ran long parts of. Alex was riding circles around Dad and I for most of it. The bike I rented had flat pedals with metal studs on both sides, which was good for grip, but whenever my feet bounced off the pedal (frequently) then the studs dug some nice long parallel gouges into the front or back of my legs, which wasn't so good.

kayak 3:00:00 [3] 5.0 mi (36:00 / mi)

Canoe leg. Maybe 2/3 open water going into a headwind, 1/3 swamp bashing through some knee to ankle deep muck.

orienteering 4:00:00 [3] 10.0 mi (24:00 / mi)

Orienteering leg. Actually quite a bit of real orienteering, which was cool, but also a bit of bingo hide-and-seek games at one of the "control" locations, which was not cool. Well I guess it was cool, or cold, since it was pouring rain and windy and we spent 45 mins on top of Mt Pawtuckaway looking for the stupid things. Finally bailed and went to the second part of the orienteering, which was setup like a score-o. Only had 20 mins by the time we started, and I blew a bunch of that by getting the control code wrong on the first one we found (though in my retrospective defense, the description was also dodgy: it said water-filled pit, but was actually a dry shallow depression). But we eventually punched that one and nailed two more before hauling back into the finish with 30 seconds to spare.

mtn bike 25:00 [3] 2.0 mi (4.8 mph)

around the ski trails a bit with Dad.

road bike 1:40:00 [3] 20.3 mi (12.2 mph)

Went to pick up the mt bike for the AR this weekend, then Dad had to go to "work" for a while, so I wandered around VT for a bit. MTB on the roads in running shoes is not so fun, but it was a good workout. Harpoon brewery -> Windsor -> Brownsville -> Hartland -> Brewery.

roller ski 48:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: v2 aeros #2

Picked up the new rollerskis today, then Dad and I went for an easy spin out in front of the house.

more bulldozering today. mostly fixing the parts on the bulldozer we broke yesterday.

With dad down to Chester, the back up the creek that is Cummings Road.

hiking 1:45:00 [3] 4.0 mi (26:15 / mi)

Run with Dan up Mt Monadnock before the various pre-wedding activities. Got almost to the top when we ran into four chicks on their way down in cocktail dresses and pink tiaras. Quick lap up to the top and back and then we hiked down with them.

run 49:00 [3] 6.0 mi (8:10 / mi)

Not surprisingly, there was almost no one out running this morning. It actually wasn't much worse than normal LA, except for that burning taste and the purple sunrise...

Note

ok all you iphone junkies, the hotness just got approved by apple. you know you want it. this ridiculousness is gonna pay for CF2.
