Orienteering race (NSW SL 14A) 21:50 [4] *** 3.34 km (6:33 / km) +15m 6:24 / km
ahr:148 max:170 spiked:19/20c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 20 Black

Part A of sprint race at Oxley College. Poor start and took what seemed like ages to work out where I was and get to 1. After that was OK with just a few hesitations, like on the way to 18 when I thought the fence was impassable and went back and around only to find there was a gate! Didn't push hard whilst easing Achilles back into faster running but have dicky right knee at the moment. Really windy, with gusts up to 90 kph.

Part B at Tudor House. A better course and a better run with only issue not being able to read, at times, some of the fine map detail, like stairs. Wind was worse this arvo.

Orienteering race (ACT Long Distance) 57:16 [4] **** 6.3 km (9:05 / km) +159m 8:04 / km
ahr:142 max:168 spiked:7/8c (injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Diachi

Return to Slap Up Creek, not used since 2013 Aust Champs. A good area with lots of granite and subtle contours. As with yesterday, ran well within myself to protect injury. Only error was a largish one (+6 minutes!) on the long leg to 3. Drifted too far left and had trouble relocating in the vague contours with no real attack point. Finally found a termite mound and, combined with nearby gullies, worked out where I had to be. Ran a bearing and went pretty much straight to the flag. Very slow over the last few as Achilles started to complain.
