Orienteering race (QBIII Sprint) 19:43 [5] *** 2.65 km (7:26 / km) +25m 7:06 / km
spiked:12/14c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 16 Blue

Day 3 of QBIII at Coffs Campus. Small complex buildings and a good course requiring lots of careful map reading. Small error on 3 where I over ran it and stood for 15seconds before turning around and finding the flag 5 metres away! Good through the rest (didn't enjoy the hill slog) apart from 12 where I ran to the wrong level then down to the ground and back up before working out it was on the middle level! Again slow, 7th place today but 6th overall was OK given severe lack of training coming in. Good news is the foot came through OK so will try to ramp up the training over the next few weeks.

Enjoyed the carnival but it was a long drive from Wagga, 2300km covered there and back, including the trip to Grafton for day 2.

Orienteering race (QBIII Long) 57:17 [5] **** 7.28 km (7:52 / km) +90m 7:25 / km
spiked:7/9c shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 255

Day 2 of QBIII in spur-gully at Bom Bom SF. Made a meal of 1, losing almost 5 minutes being too far right. 2-4 good then came unstuck again on long leg to 5, again losing 5 minutes after drifting into the main water course below the junction and thrashing around before realising my error. 6 through to the finish were fine. Again lack of fitness showed and, combined with 10 minutes of errors, I placed 8th on the day.

Orienteering race (QBIII Middle) 47:46 [5] **** 5.23 km (9:08 / km) +5m 9:05 / km
spiked:15/19c shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 255

QBIII race 1 on sand dunes at Coffs Harbour. Great little area and very good course. Course was split and printed on both sides of the map. Lost a little time on 1, good on the loop around to 5, slight overshot at 6 and then ran well through to 14 where I left the track too soon and had to go back out to relocate. Very similar on 15, again relocating off the track. Going to 16, I hit #201 which was my 4th control so flipped the map over to confirm location and quickly found 16. Lack of fitness told on the 2nd half so was surprised with 4th place, albeit 3 minutes off 3rd and a lot further from 1st.
