Final 2 hours of map updates at Connorton
12 PM

Orienteering 4:00:00 [2]
shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 255

Checking control tags a Connorton. Just 8 more sites to check tomorrow morning. Not the best training: run hard between controls and then stand still for a few minutes (or more is many cases) but at least I am in the terrain and reading the map.

Running 52:02 [3] 10.0 km (5:12 / km) +43m 5:06 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Ran from Briohny's place to our place via the southern end of the Lake. Felt pretty awful for most of the way with a variety of ailments including arthritic toes playing up, left knee complaining and a generally stuffy head (cold coming on? - maybe time for a few shots of Scotch, my favourite cold remedy!). The run however, in terms of time at least, was pretty good despite all the above.

Running long 1:23:12 [3] 15.05 km (5:32 / km) +20m 5:29 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 15 white/blue

Last long run before the half in 2 weeks time. From home around the hill and down to the levee. Past the beach, through Wiradjuri and then along the walking trail to the Gobba Bridge, around the racecourse and into town for the Sprint event at Victory Memorial Gardens. Longest warm up I've ever done for a sprint!

Temp was around -3 when I left home so had long sleeve top and vest plus long skins pants, and gloves. Warmed up enough to remove the gloves after about 6 km but that was it!
10 AM

Orienteering race (Sprint) 17:16 [4] 2.84 km (6:04 / km) +2m 6:03 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 15 white/blue

After the 15 km long run down, I was straight into grandchildren minding whilst Briohny and Deb had a run, so no time for stretching. When I started the Sprint, I could hardly move as legs had tightened up so much! After about 1 km I started to move a bit better but well off the pace. Fun event on a brilliant winter's morning.
