6 hours map update at Connorton. Almost finished...did some checking of course setters tags whilst I was out there.

Lap of the Lake with Deb from the Boat Club (well, we started together!). First km steady then upped the pace to a solid tempo, almost to an uncomfortable level at times, for the next 4km then turned around and ran back to meet Deb. She was jog/walking with a sore knee so I jogged back to the car as a warm down and did a few stretches.

Solid afternoon run down to the river almost as far as the "soon-to-be-no-more" Hampden Bridge then turned around and came back. Knees kept "swapping" minor bursts of discomfort but generally pretty good. Happy with a surge from the 10km mark almost to the end. Hope I can repeat that from the 19km mark in 2 1/2 weeks time!

First time for everything: spotted lots of Jonquils flowering beneath the power lines near the end of the run, so stopped and picked a bunch for Deb:-)

Orienteering race (5th Interclub with AWOC) 49:02 [5] *** 5.18 km (9:28 / km) +176m 8:05 / km

At 9 Mile Hill just north of Albury. A variation on a score with a compulsory number of controls but no time limit. Quite a fun event especially as this is a 1:5000 granite map! Didn't do much pre-planning and had to be careful to make sure I got all 26 controls - no way to check with SI. Generally good nav apart from one shocker where I lost almost 5 minutes. Map wasn't right (control shown between 2 pieces of bare rock) and description (english only) was colourful to say the least: "wooded grove". A couple of other small wobbles. Left knee held up OK during the run but a little sore tonight.
