Orienteering race (Easter Day 3) 46:11 [5] **** 7.0 km (6:36 / km) +115m 6:06 / km
spiked:14/15c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

Final day of Easter at Crusoe Reservoir, a new open spur gully area with some gold mining. My best run of the carnival, with only minimal errors totalling about 2 minutes. Decided to run as hard as I could despite hamstring issue and, although I felt it whilst running, I pulled up OK.

I found the course quite straightforward, almost at a moderate rather than hard navigation standard and I think the setter missed the chance to make it harder (navigationally) by using too many linear features and not enough of the gold mining point features. Even several of the point features used were quite easy as they were near tracks or in watercourses.

Overall, a good carnival with a variety of different terrains, well organised and well run.

Orienteering race (Easter Day 2 Mt Alexander) 1:06:33 [4] ***** 5.81 km (11:27 / km) +364m 8:43 / km
spiked:10/14c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

Granite terrain and very steep. An OK run apart from 2 controls where I lost probably 10 minutes. The long leg to 5 was good for about 95% of the way and then I overshot the control and didn't relocate well. Then brain snap at 9 where I ran down the hill past the control and had to climb back up about 6 contours!

Orienteering race (Easter Day 1) 57:36 [4] **** 6.56 km (8:47 / km) +69m 8:20 / km
spiked:16/20c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

Gold mining at Yorkshire Hill, a new area just outside Bendigo. Totally stuffed the 1st one, losing probably 4 minutes and then another silly error at 5. After that I finally started to read the map and was pretty clean through to 17. Then managed to go to 19 before 18 so lost another 3 minutes. Overall disappointed as it is a good area, although the mapping seemed a little "different" to me in some areas. Distance is by Garmin, course distance was 4.9.

spiked:25/27c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

Easter prologue at La Trobe Uni in Bendigo. Really good sprint area and nice course. Only jogged/walked most of the course due to leg problems and nav was very good except....I completely missed 21! So a DNF. The good thing is that today doesn't count to the overall Easter result. Garmin distance was just over 4 km so went pretty straight.
