Orienteering race (State League 10) 59:31 [5] **** 6.18 km (9:37 / km) +113m 8:49 / km
spiked:10/14c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

An OK run was ruined by a couple of very simple mistakes at 12 and 13 and small navigational errors in vague areas at 6 and 7. Very slow going overall in rough and scrubby terrain.

Latish afternoon run out the back gate and down along the powerline track, through the cemetery and onto the bike path. Down to the river and along the levee to Day St then back home via the edge of Bolton Park and Lake Albert Rd. Managed to fit it in between rain showers.

Heading into 4 consecutive weekends of Orienteering which will be a nice change and a challenge. NSW state leagues this weekend, setting Interclub event at Connorton next weekend, then NSW Middle and Long and Vic Middle and Long.

A quick lap of Rocky Hill at the back of our place. Would have thought I'd had enough of hills after Sunday but a few more didn't hurt!

A really good run today. Enjoyed the course, especially the single trail sections in Pomingalarna, around Flowerdale Lagoon and along the river.

Started at the half-way point of the marathon course in Silvalite Reserve. A bit quick for the first km or so as I got caught up in the start rush. Settled into a steady pace and allowed others to go past me on the fire trails. Once we got onto the single track and climb, I seemed to be able to move a bit quicker than most of the small group I was with and passed about 10 people and established a little break going over the top of Pommy. The downhill was fun and reached the 11km mark at the corner of the golf course in good shape.

A couple of the runners who I had passed on the climb went past me again on the road section but once we hit the single track again around Flowerdale and along the river I picked up a few places. Short sand section along the river was tough on the legs!

Ran the race right out with a sprint to the finish with another guy (which I lost!) and I placed 19th overall (and 2nd in my age class) so was very happy with that.

Deb and Trent ran the 10km and were both happy with their runs. Briohny ran in a Marathon Relay team with Belinda (Owers), Lucy and Cath and they WON the women's Relay! A couple of other excellent performances were MissJones winning the women's 10km race, MaryMac's first Half Mara and Belinda Allison's first Marathon. And then there was Bob Moore playing the bagpipes for several hours as the runners came out of the Flowerdale Lagoon section:-)
