Nice morning run in Rawlings Park with Deb, Briohny and Darcy the dog. Final warm up for tomorrow's half. We managed to fit the run in between rain showers!

Short afternoon street run around Kooringal after walking home from work. Run was just after the hail storm (the tail of which got me on the work home from work) and a series of rain squalls that have continued into the evening. The trails are going to be pretty wet and muddy for Sunday's Trail Marathon and Half, especially on the Pomingalarna loop and along the river!

Afternoon hills run from Briohny's house back to our house via Tatton/Bourkelands ridge and Willan's Hill. Plenty of climb in the half marathon on Sunday so thought it was time (too late?) for a few hills after a week of flat running in Darwin and the NT.

The Tatton/Bourkelands part of the run was on the Marathon course and it has been nicely mown and trimmed!

Orienteering race (NT Long Champs) 52:41 [5] *** 8.5 km (6:12 / km) +80m 5:55 / km
spiked:14/16c shoes: Salomon Trail

NT Long Champs at Lok Cabay. Wasn't sure what to expect after the night event but this was a really enjoyable area and excellent course.

Long leg to 1 with no features for first half. Decided to climb onto the ridge (only 4 contours!) and then ran along the top. This was a safe route but also probably the quickest. 1 was also a pivot control with 5 and had no problems on the short legs 2-5. Slightly off on 6, 7 good but had a little trouble going to 8 which was also a pivot with 4. Looked very different from the opposite direction! 9 good then missed 10 to the left as I didn't see the small boulder in the pandanus palms. Dumb error on the next one as I followed a train of W21E runners for about 200m before suddenly realising that they weren't going to my 11! 12 and 13 good and then a long vague leg to 14. Decided it was best to aim off slightly to the right as missing that side was better the left! as it happened, was only about 50m of line so happy with that. 15 good but a little wayward on 16 before the run to the finish.

Pretty happy with the time, probably dropping about 2 minutes overall. Third place behind Lance and Tim. Again ran up in M45-54.

Thanks and congratulations to Top End Orienteers for a great weekend of events!
