Running race (SL 3 (Sprint)) 18:24 [5] **** 3.19 km (5:46 / km) +48m 5:21 / km
spiked:18/19c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 13

Sprint at Newcastle Uni. Really good area and great course. Very happy with my run for 3rd place although may have been a couple of slightly faster route choices. Distance is by Garmin, map distance 2.3km.

Orienteering race (SL 4 (Middle)) 40:12 [5] **** 5.88 km (6:50 / km) +74m 6:26 / km
spiked:16/19c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

A new area and another good course. A good run too with the exception of #12 where I lost probably 3 minutes after doing a 90 degree error out of the drinks/spectator control. A couple of other minor errors at 5 and 8 but ended up deadheating for 1st with James Lithgow.

Short afternoon run in Griffith. Started with a 1km warm up then ran the next 4km at tempo pace before 300m cool down (too short I know!)

Orienteering race (ACT Long Champs) 1:13:00 [4] 4.6 km (15:52 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

Disappointing effort today after a good race yesterday. Whipped around the first 6 (and was actually leading at that stage) but missed 7 badly and had to relocate off the track, losing about 10 minutes. Picked up the pace on the way to 8 to try and make up time but didn't really have a plan and lost my way going up the gully. Should have used the saddle at the top but got totally frustrated in the thick stuff. Eventually decided to cut my losses and jog/walked/struggled down the big gully, eventually finding 9 but then walked back to the finish.

Was pleased for Deb who ran the same course on W50s today and stuck it out to finish 2nd just a couple of minutes behind the winner.
