Running race (Road Runners) 37:59 [5] 8.0 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11

Road runners at Wiradjari reserve. Nice run down along the river. A little warmer today but the major hazard was the 2 metre high thistles growing alongside the single track!! A bit sluggish but have had a slack week and need to get back into some more running. Garmin distance was 7.85 but lots of tree cover might have interfered with the satellite reception.

Running 43:55 [3] 8.4 km (5:14 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11 2nd pair

Afternoon run around the Lake with a bit extra added on to the south. Quite warm today so need to start thinking about morning runs soon, although it will be cool (and wet) again for the next few days.

Orienteering race (Australian Relays) 45:00 [5] **** 5.4 km (8:20 / km)
spiked:2/13c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 270

This could only be described as an embarrasing disaster! After Eoin and Russell had given me a good platform (1st and 2nd), I raced through the first 2 and..........that was it! I spent 35 minutes looking for 3 and somehow failed to find it!

Thought all was well for much of the leg but then things started to look a bit wrong. Found the ruined N-S fence (several times!) and even relocated off a road (I thought). After 20 minutes or so, I realised I had made a massive parallex error and had actually run past 4 (plus 8 and 11 for good measure). Went back over a big ridge to look for 3 but I already knew it was hopeless and after another 5 minutes or so I just gave up, knowing I still have 75% of the course to complete.

Whilst walking back I looked at the leg again and was shattered that I had missed the blantantly obvious road/fence route option that would have made the leg very fast and quite straightforward. Once again I failed to read the map. Sincere apologies again to my former teammates!
