Roadies pack run at Pomingalarna, except Briohny and I ran pretty much the whole way by ourselves. We started a bit ahead of the main group expecting to be run down but they never caught us! Nice chance to chat about lots of things. Felt much more comfortable than yesterday's effort at the Lake.

Lap of the Lake with Deb. Very strong headwind and then, of course, tailwind! I did the full lap and then ran back to meet Deb and we ran to the car together. I felt very mechanical in my running today, with no rhythm but good to get out.

Note

Golf 4th round club champs. Should have stayed in bed! A worse start than yesterday with an 8 on the first. Didn't get much better for the rest of the round with only one par and 12 over for a net 84. Only positive was my bunker play but conversely had lots of practice (6 times) which meant my direction on approach shots was poor!

Note

Golf, 3rd round Club Champs. Horrible start with a lost ball and subsequent triple bogie on the 1st. Only managed one par on the front 9 for 11 over! Back 9 was like a different day. 6 pars and missed a 2 foot putt on 17 for a 7th! However another triple on the par 3 14th cruelled the recovery and finished on net 72.

Picked up the controls after todays event. Was getting pretty warm by 1:00pm but still pushed hard at times to get some value out of the run. Only had the Garmin on for part of the time but did about an hour and 10 in total.

Afternoon run from home. Usual powerline and cemetery route to the river, then a bit of a loop back along Edward St and back onto the cycle way. Soles of my feet quite sore today, a likely combination of dryer, harder conditions here and the 3 sprint races on hard surfaces on the weekend.

Great area for a sprint with stairs and laneways, underpasses and complex gardens, all with spectacular harbour views. Ross's course was very good too.

Good start but then couldn't find the stairs down to 4, losing about 30 seconds with a false start in the wrong direction. Good through 12 then overshot 13 with the loss of another 30 seconds. Rest were OK although went to 17 before 14 but was on a straight line so only a few seconds lost. Missed 3rd place by 1 second and 2nd by 13 seconds so errors were costly.

Hope to run here again. Thanks Garingal!

Part 1 of fun races at Sydney Uni. A reasonable first half then overshot 10 and lost 15 seconds then silly error after punching 13 (also 5) on the bridge when I headed back to 4 instead of 14, losing another 30 seconds. Missed the shorter route to the last control, with another 15 seconds gone.

Chasing start for 2nd race and made a combined big error on the 1st control, firstly missing the short route across the oval and then heading down the wrong lane. At least 1:20 gone here. The remainder were good right through to 15 when I took the longer inside route and then again managed to miss the short route to the last one.

Really enjoyed the event on a great map. Thanks Oing in particular for the courses and BigFoot for the event!

Same run as last Tuesday except this time I felt under-dressed...I forgot my GARMIN!! So time is a guestimate and distance is from last week. Run was good even considering the warmth (23-24C). Nothing like what's expected Thursday however when they are forecasting 35C.

"Rest" day: almost 5 hours at home in the garden, mainly mowing and edging lawns and then brush cutting the masses of long grass and weeds on the crown road at the back of our block. At least there were no snake sightings!

Back at "The Gib" for the Aust Relays. Lucky to be picked in the #1 NSW M55 team with Rob V and Oing. They ran great 1st and 2nd legs leaving me about 5 minutes ahead of the Vics 3rd runner (Geoff Lawford!). I had my doubts that was going to be enough and messing up #1 big time confirmed my fears. Long leg and tracked it well almost to the circle then lost map contact and stuffed around for 8 to 10 minutes before I finally got it - Garmin route tells the sad story! Was determined to do better from then on, pushed hard and no mistakes but damage was done. Geoff ran a blinder and I would not have held him out even with a clean run but frustrating just the same.

A great new area near Bungendore, with nice granite on a large ridge. An average run with a poor start. Slow to 1 then 4 minute+ error at 2. Settled after that although 5 was slow also. Only other error was at 11 where I drifted too high and found (but didn't punch) another control. Relocated but lost at least a minute. Hopefully got rid of the mistakes ahead of the Relays at same location tomorrow.

Briohny convinced me to do the Pomingalarna run with the Roadies crew. Haven't been out for several months but enjoyed the run and the chat, especially with fellow Hawks man Angus! Legs didn't like the hills much but maybe good training for the weekend.

Lap of the Lake plus a loop out to Plumpton Rd to add a little more distance. Cool and gusty breeze was an annoyance but still a good hit out.
