Orienteering 40:00 [2] 3.0 km (13:20 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Collecting controls from todays event. Managed to keep a slow and steady jog for the circuit, stopping to collect about 8 controls on the way.

mouse136 made a somewhat inauspicious return to club running, rolling his ankle between 1st and 2nd control and DNF. Hope it is not serious, given recent history of broken ankle!

Note

Returned to the golf course this afternoon. Bought a new Driver and a new putter so had to give them a bit of a workout. Played 7 holes and given I haven't hit a ball for 2 months, both performed pretty well, especially after I adjusted the weights in the Driver to correct the new-found draw/hook I started with. Managed to smack a couple of very nice drives away towards the end.

Orienteering 2:00:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 2100s

Putting out controls for tomorrows club event at Connorton. Foggy start to the day and a very cold wind in the exposed areas, but OK once the sun came out. Nothing better than a slow jog.

Got a referral to the orthopaedic surgeon yesterday to have a look at the troublesome knee. However, have to wait a full month to see the surgeon! The bike looks like getting a good workout over the next month, and hopefully might get back on the golf course.

Cycling 40:22 [3] 13.0 km (3:06 / km)

Morning ride out to Mitchell Rd and back. Nice ride in fine cool conditions, only downside was avoiding the hordes of walkers who have taken over the track since Council completed the Lake circuit! Knee OK.

Late start, as I stayed up last night to watch Cadel Evans' great ride in Le Tour time trial.

Cycling 28:00 [3] 8.5 km (3:18 / km)

Rode down to Road Runners at the Boat Club and then did the Lake circuit (this month's run) on the bike, then back home. Forgot my knee support but it actually felt better without...need to discuss this with the physio next week!

Looks like the Wagga Marathon might be back on (cancelled a few weeks back by Council due to mythical "traffic issues". The Committee has now devised a course around the Lake which doesn't go on any roads. See what Council says to that! Might be a tad boring as the marathon will involve 6 laps of the Lake,.

Cycling 26:00 [3] 7.5 km (3:28 / km)

First exercise of any merit since the JWOC/Aust Champs week. Cycle round the Lake after work with Briohny, who seemed to be struggling, as she was finding it hard to keep up with me (and I wasn't going fast!). Turned out she had a deflating tyre which finally gave up completety right on the far side of the Lake. I rode home and came back with the car to pick her up.

Note

Finish tent JWOC Long. A long day but weather was great - clear, sunny winters day. Competition also great with the Norway really putting on a great show: 1st and 2nd in both Mens and Womens - hard to beat in the Relays! Aussie also did well with Simon (4th) and Vanessa (6th) on the podium.

Note

Finish tent for JWOC Sprint at Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo. Weather variable from rain to sun. A really good event and results very close esp Girls. Somehow ended at with the job of chief digital clock setter!

Spent the afternoon putting out controls and streamering at Oz Champs map.

Event: JWOC 2007

Orienteering race 1:23:35 [2] *** 6.8 km (12:17 / km) +255m 10:21 / km
spiked:12/15c shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

NSW Champs: a slow jog as knee still very poor. Got around without too many dramas but probably should not have gone out as knee felt pretty ordinary afterwards. Will not be running in Oz Relays!

Note

Mapping workshop at Molong/Gumble with Eric Andrews today through to Friday. Bloody freezing today - sleet and misty rain. Good couple of days however and I got quite a bit out of it.

Cycling 33:10 [3] 8.5 km (3:54 / km)

Another easy ride to try and maintain some level of fitness. Around the Lake in the reverse direction from the Boat Club rd so a little longer than yesterday.

Since they have opened the walkway past the Golf Club, every man and his dog seems to be out using the loop around the lake. Good to see but a little difficult on the bike sometimes, especially the dogs on leads straying in your path!

Note

Home after the ride in time to see the Hawks edge out the Pies. One of the best games of the year and the right team won!
