Orienteering 54:25 [3] **** 5.9 km (9:13 / km)
spiked:12/12c shoes: Silva K80

Decided to head out to Connorton with Deb and Briohny to run our courses from last week's badge event. Started in the middle to save driving right round the back. Took it very easy and made basically no errors. Helps having been event Controller I guess but still had to find them and no flags. Happy with the time (would have placed me 2nd behind Hugh Moore) and I didn't push hard at all.

Achilles felt pretty good so I am a bit confused: one day good, next day bad! Interclub at Albury tomorrow so will see how that goes.

Running 31:00 [2] 6.0 km (5:10 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Dragged myself out after a 2 day rest after the State Leagues last weekend. Was planning on a 40-50 min run however Achilles was too sore so turned around after 15 mins and headed back home. Not a good sign heading into Easter! Might be rest and a bit of cycling perhaps.

Orienteering 1:05:00 [3] 3.5 km (18:34 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Putting out SI units before SL2 at Connorton.

Note

Best part of an hour searching for a lost competitor at SL 2. A group of seven of us did a sweep through likely area but failed to locate him. He was found by land owner about 1.5 km from where we were searching, completely off his course and heading further west and not towards assembly.

Orienteering 50:00 [3] * 3.5 km (14:17 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Putting out and checking controls and SI units at CSU for NSW Sprint Champs in cold, wet weather. Rain stopped in time for the race.

Orienteering 35 [3] * 2.0 km (18 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Collecting controls after Sprint

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 3.5 km (17:09 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Putting out controls for SL 2 at Connorton.

Running 1:15:11 [3] 13.0 km (5:47 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Morning run out to Red Bank Rd and back via the Lake, a bit slow compared to previous runs here but this was my longest run in over a month. Nice early but started to get warm by the end - heading for 34C today before a cool change overnight ahead of the Sprint Champs and badge event here this weekend.

Running 53:30 [3] 10.0 km (5:21 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Nice run in light rain out to Rawlings Park and back. Achilles a bit tight again but could be a reaction to the repetitive eccentric stretching I have been doing.

For those APers coming to Wagga for NSW State Leagues this weekend, you might want to pack your raincoats as we are forecast to have a wet Saturday - could be a slippery Sprint!

Orienteering (Putting out controls) 3:00:00 [2] 9.0 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Putting out and checking controls with Pauline and Deb at Connorton for next weekends State League. Tried to use it as a training exercise and did most of it without compass. Never got above 1/2 pace as carried stands, flags, camelbak and a hammer and spike to bore holes for stands as the ground is still very hard.

Running race 34:28 [3] 7.4 km (4:39 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Saturday Road Runners week 3 at Lake Albert. Cooler day after a few early showers. Went out a bit faster today and managed to hold the pace pretty well. 31 seconds quicker than last week and 9th overall so pretty happy with result.

Wednesday Mar 14, 2007 #

Running 37:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:17 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Afternoon run around Lake Albert. First run in 3 days, giving achilles a rest. Felt OK but still a way to go.

Sunday Mar 11, 2007 #

Orienteering race 43:20 [3] *** 5.1 km (8:30 / km)
spiked:15/16c shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Club score event at Pomingalarna. Took it very easy, spiked all bar one and got back with a bit to spare. Didn't cross the main ridge so avoided the steep side of the map.

Saturday Mar 10, 2007 #

Note

3 hours control site checking for SL 2 at Connorton. All done and ready to go!

Running race 35:00 [4] 7.4 km (4:44 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Road Runners at The Lake. A bit cooler than last week and started pretty slow due to 3 hours in the bush this morning checking control sites. Picked it up in the second half and ended up 1:18 faster than last week, but down a few placings.

Thursday Mar 8, 2007 #

Running hills 30:00 [3] 4.8 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Hill session on Red Hill with Briohny. 10 min warm up followed by 4 x 100m hill sprints and 10 min warm down. Briohny managed 5 repeats to my 4 but I beat her (just) on the first. Won't mention the rest!

Wednesday Mar 7, 2007 #

Running 40:41 [3] 8.0 km (5:05 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

First run in 3 days, in Leeton. Travelling with work and had little chance to get out before today. Quite warm and took it pretty easy. Achilles tight at the start (comes with 3 days in meetings and the car) but OK later.

Sunday Mar 4, 2007 #

Note

Spent a long day (6 plus hours) doing final control site checks (and a few map corrections) for State League 2 at Connorton. Probably covered about 10 km but mostly walking or a slow jog at best. I guess it is still good terrain training. Nice to see a tinge of green in the bush after the recent rain but may not last as it looks like the hot weather is back.

Saturday Mar 3, 2007 #

Running race 36:18 [4] 7.4 km (4:54 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Saturday Road Runners. 1st run for March, so back to the 1:00pm time slot and very hot (34C). Course around south end of Lake Albert is nice (familiar territory as close to home) and I had a good run. Started slowly to make sure my achilles was nicely warmed up (seems to be responding to the regular stretching and icing) and then picked up the pace a little. My best placing in a long time (7th) but a few of the guns were missing today!

Thursday Mar 1, 2007 #

Orienteering race 42:35 [2] * 7.8 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Street event in Tolland/Bourkelands. Achilles still very iffy so decided to take it slow and avoid most of the climb though not really possible in this area. Reasonable run in warm and humid conditions after the great rain of the last few days (41mm at home Tues-Wed).
