Running race 24:48 [3] 4.5 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Road Runners Handicap race at Pomingalarna. Didn't run any other races here so picked a random vacant start time. Ran OK, slowly at first up the hill and then settled in and ran well. Only a little discomfort in the knee; more "pain" from the sledging from Coogs for only running the short course!

Note

Not too bad this morning after yesterday's long run. Knee a bit tighter and a bit sore in the hips but that's probably to be expected after stepping up from 5-6km to nearly 20! Should still be able to swing a golf club tomorrow (and Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday....annual golf trip!)

Running 1:47:10 [3] 19.5 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Last chance to get some k's into the legs before the Canberra Half and also to test out the injuries! Planned doing Plumpton Hill and return but was fairly really good on the way back so added the Boiling Down - Redbank Rds loop, about an extra 5km. Time was slow (couldn't have gone any faster mind you!) but felt good throughout. Will see how I feel tomorrow!

Running 35:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Ran from home over the hill to Athletics training at Jubilee Park. Did a couple of laps of the track with Briohny as a warm down from her time trial, then ran back home over the hill. Wore an elastic knee support and knee felt good once I had warmed up.

Orienteering 2:00:00 [2] ****
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

A couple of hours on the Oz Champs map checking and relocating control sites and a Start location affected by a new fence, courtesy of the landowner! Whilst doing this, found ANOTHER new fence which further effected courses so had to do a did of mapping as well! Lucky I had the GPS!

Note

On site at the Oz Champs with Organisers to discuss Arena setup arrangements and requirements.

Running 31:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:12 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Slow and short run out to Lake and back, just to shake out the cobwebs! Felt OK but I can't see me making the Canberra Half at this rate!

Off to Dubbo at 4:30am tomorrow for busy weekend with Carnival Organisers and out on the map.

Running 38:15 [2] 6.5 km (5:53 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Evening run along and across Murray River at Albury and into Wodonga and back. Very steady pace and knee felt OK. Will see how it progresses.

Was Federal MP day down here today, with Senator Helen Coonan and local member for Indi Sophie Mirabella at the meeting I attended in Wodonga and Julie Bishop across the border in Albury.

Note
(injured)

Long day at work so no time for a run anyway!

Sunday Apr 15, 2007 #

Note
(injured)

Knee pretty good today after golf yesterday but decided to rest anyway.

Saturday Apr 14, 2007 #

Note

First game of golf on a Saturday for over 12 months. Played pretty well for nett 71 in Monthly Medal. Used elastic support on knee and it was OK.

Note
(injured)

Feels like a slight ACL injury left knee. I recall hyper-extending left leg running downhill on Day 3 Easter but no effect until after yesterday's run when knee became swollen and sore.

Thursday Apr 12, 2007 #

Running 1:00:30 [3] 11.5 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Morning run out to Mitchell Rd (almost!) and return. Cool, clear morning and lots of people out and about. Took it steady and felt pretty good.

Orienteering race 43:41 [4] *** 5.1 km (8:34 / km) +260m 6:50 / km
spiked:17/17c shoes: Silva K80

Easter 3 Days Day 3: Best run of the weekend. Pushed as hard as I could and made no significant errors. A bit slow up the hills to 10, 11 and 12 as I tired but fast downhill for last few. Failed by 5 seconds to get back the place I dropped on Sunday!

Overall pretty good result for the weekend with only a couple of errors in 3 races, especially as spur/gully is not my favourite terrain. Frustrating that those silly errors cost me potentially up to 3 places!

Orienteering race 49:16 [4] *** 5.7 km (8:39 / km) +230m 7:12 / km
spiked:7/10c shoes: Silva K80

Easter 3 Days Day 2: a good fast and clean run through to #4. A bit wayward early to 5 and then stopped short, losing almost 2 minutes on this leg. Bad nav error on 6 as lost concentration when Chris Norwood caught me (due to my errors on 5). Stopped and was able to relocate fairly quickly but again lost about 2 minutes. Went straight on 7 which proved a bit quicker than left route option. Thought location of 8 was a bit dodgy: rocky spur in clear (yellow) according to description and circle but control was in under the trees! Stupid error on 9 cost another minute, so overall a poor run and lucky to drop just 1 place.

Orienteering race 49:48 [4] *** 6.3 km (7:54 / km) +215m 6:45 / km
spiked:14/14c shoes: Silva K80

Easter 3 Days Day 1: Good clean run, with just a few minor route choice errors quickly corrected, so probably only lost a minute or two on whole course. Pushed pretty hard early and got a bit tired towards the end.

Orienteering 30:00 [3] ***
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Easter Model event. Picked out a variety of controls and did a loop run. 1:5000 scale for Model made it a bit unusual but useful for mapping interpretation. Blew the sole off the Asics Mojaves on the sharp rocks so will have to change to the Silvas for the 3 days!

Tuesday Apr 3, 2007 #

Running 39:20 [2] 7.5 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Nice steady run around south end of Lake Albert to BBQ shed (water stop) and return. Probably last run until Friday in Burra. Golf tomorrow (first game in over a month) will add a few walking kms then the long drive across on Thursday.

Orienteering race 1:13:00 [2] *** 5.8 km (12:35 / km)
spiked:9/12c shoes: Silva K80

Waggaroos-AWOC Interclub race at Mt Terrible near Albury. Not a bad area but difficult to set non-physically challenging courses because of the severe side slope on most of the map.

Started well with first 2 (2nd perhaps a bit dodgy) then ran low on 3 and 4 before putting in a good stretch 5 to 9. Badly messed up 10 so cut my losses and walked last couple (uphill!) to save too much strain on achilles, which felt pretty good during and, importantly, after.

Think we cleaned up on the interclub points, with 1st and 2nd (not me!) on long and short reds, plus a 2nd on Orange and Green,
