Orienteering (Field Checking) 2:40:00 [1]
slept:7.0 weight:171lbs (sick)

Blockhouse Conservation Park, MD. I covered more ground in the midwest part of the park. I found several small isolated boulders but they weren't far from trails. One of the reentrants had remnants of an old road that I mapped as a ditch. The other had a nice stream with lots of erosion carved curves/earth banks. This is the first day that I felt a bit stronger though in the night nasal drip kept me coughing and awake.

Orienteering (Field Checking) 1:45:00 [1]
slept:9.0 weight:169lbs (sick)

Blockhouse Conservation Park, MD. Peggy got sick during the night. I woke-up feeling a good bit better and got Max off to day care. After returning and an impromptu nap, I felt even better and did some errands. I had planned to take the day off last Thursday but had to work. I traded a nice sunny 70F day for an overcast 52F day with occasional drizzle. Because I had to take Max to gym class, I didn't get to stay out long. I worked on the midwest parts of the park and spent much of the time mapping vegetation. Some of the GPS marked trails that Greg Lennon had put in on the base map were off so I fixed those too.

Orienteering race (Foot) 1:17:01 [3] *** 9.15 mi (8:25 / mi) +70m 8:13 / mi
spiked:15/22c (sick)

DVOA's Batona 500 Day 2 at Pakim Pond, Brendan Byrne State Forest, NJ. I had nice company for a dinner the night before but our choice of going to Ventura's restaraunt turned out not to be good for me. My entree was bitter with chicken, spinach and brochlii on pasta. I vomited some of it up in the night but not enough. Gayle Ryan got sick too. In the morning, instead of a breakfast more appropriate for running 9K, I had only Peto Bismal. It was just enough to get me out on the course. I took it relatively easy but still tired at the end. I made a few errors early on then lost two minutes or so confusing legs 19 and 18. After the race, I once again got chilled and the nausea grew. I slept in the car while others were at awards. See the Split List.
