Running (Warm-up) 5:00 [3] 0.4 km (12:30 / km) +45m 8:00 / km
slept:7.25

Warm-up for the DVOA Harriman A-Meet on the Hogencamp Mountain Map in Harriman State Park, NY. From the drop-off point to the start.

Orienteering (Competition) 1:24:37 [4] 6.97 km (12:08 / km) +250m 10:18 / km
spiked:6/13c

Day 2 DVOA Harriman A-Meet on the Hogencamp Mountain Map in Harriman State Park, NY. I came with a better plan and started much better than Day 1. Running fast on the ridge from #4 to #5, I failed to slow near the control--falling back into bad habits. This lead to more errors on #7, a bad one on #8 and lessor ones on the short legs of #9 and #11. Overall, I felt better about the way I orienteered even though the result was poor. See the Split List.

Running (Warm-up) 6:00 [3] 0.7 km (8:34 / km) +110m 4:48 / km
slept:8.0

On the Hogencamp Mountain Map in Harriman State Park, NY for the DVOA Harriman A-Meet: Warm-up jog from the drop-off point to the start. I was running late and not sure how much time I had. As it was I made it with 20 minutes to spare.

Orienteering (Competition) 1:36:43 [4] 6.68 km (14:29 / km) +300m 11:49 / km
spiked:9/13c

DVOA Harriman A-Meet on the Hogencamp Mountain Map in Harriman State Park, NY. I didn't come very prepared for the transition from a work week to the weekend warrior. I lacked focus on how to go about orienteering in the technically difficult NY mountains often just heading out in the direction of the control without a good plan and not reading enough along the way. On the long legs which I like to do, I missed when I got close and compounded the errors running around. Even the short legs did not go that well. I missed the most on legs 4, 6, 8 and 9. See the Split List.

Bicycling (Commute) 38:10 [3] 12.04 mi (3:10 / mi)

From Rosedale Ave., Bethesda, MD to C St. SW, Washington, D.C. First ride in a long time due to traveling schedules and weather. Weight 167.

Bicycling (Commute) 41:06 [4] 11.9 mi (3:27 / mi)

From C St. SW, Washington, D.C. to Rosedale Ave., Bethesda, MD via the Bureau of Engraving alley. Fun riding past the traffic. I let one guy on a road bike go past so as not to work too hard. He kept just ahead of me--should have kept right behind him.
