US Relay Championships at Lake George, CO. I ran the third leg on the QOC 8 point team. Valarie Meyer led-off. Gayle Ryan was second to run and Ted Good ran anchor. We were bested by RMOC and BAOC teams as well as an ineligible Scandinavian team but placed 3rd. Valarie did pretty well with slight errors. Gayle ran w/o errors at faster than her usual pace. Ted ran one of the fastest times on the Green course. I was very tired going into the run but got off to a good start. I planned a route to #3 and halfway through it I thought I was going to #4 so I did. Fortunately #3 was less than 200m away albeit uphill. I got there and back to #4 in about 3 minutes. I next had trouble with #5. While pushing and climbing a ridge, I guess my brain shut off. I missed seeing some telephone poles on the map and course which I could have used as an attack point. I left the ridge at the wrong place and lost several minutes there. Otherwise, I was clean. The course was very steep and seemed to be much more than 150m climb. SVO won the overall 4 point team event. Eddie B. ran the SVO anchor leg exceptionally well. CSU won the 12 point category.
