Event: Mt Tom

Orienteering race 1:12:48 [3] *** 6.25 km (11:39 / km) +310m 9:20 / km
spiked:12/14c shoes: VJ Falcons #1

Mt. Tom, Red. Arrived late, and had a swell time running in nice T-shirt weather (about 50F). A very pleasant experience, navigating pretty well, and really only losing time due to wheezing on a couple of legs following the big climb.

Running in terrain 53:00 [3] 5.75 km (9:13 / km) +260m 7:31 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons #1

Rather than taking the polite approach of offering to help pick up controls, I crossed the river and went for a jog/hike in Skinner State Park, with the specific purpose of checking out the rumored hang glider launch, which does appear to exist and to be in reasonably good shape. 26:20 up to the Summit House, but only 12:30 coming down (and taking it easy, though via a more direct route).

Note

Returned from a Thanksgiving trip wheezing, which I hope subsides before Sunday.

Note

As for what happened to the -ups, I haven't been doing them for a few weeks. I decided to give my shoulder a rest after tweaking it a little on my klutzy hang-glider landing at The Pulpit (nothing serious, but no sense aggravating it), and this came shortly before things got very busy at work (with extracurricular activities thrown in), such that I have been happy just to get to sleep at night, and haven't been exercising.
